Snow Performance Boost Tap

I just got the snow performance WMI kit and realized it doesn't include the n55 boost tap. Is this part necessary for installation or does it only speed up the process since you don't have to splice the TMAP wires?

my charge pipe had two npt ports, one for WMI, one for boost tap.

What did you use for the boost tap, a third party one, or the one snow recommends?
