if you have the VIN and can decode it, yes, the production date will show up.

I use mdecoder.com to get the production date using VIN number. https://bimmercat.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/online also works.

Do you know if anyone has been successful that are using the military purchase program? I was told by BMW Genius that I couldn't track my vehicle I would have to go through my sales rep for any updates. Also, I'm taking a European (Germany) delivery so I don't think my VIN gets added to the US database until I ship my car back to the states at the end of my tour.

I used bimmercat. It says 07.2018. Looks like mdecoder is going to become a paid website.

If your VIN isn't "in the database" (they're actually assigned from a predetermined list at build time), you won't be able to import the car to the USA because _it won't be American spec_.

I've done two BMW EDs and one with Volvo. Military is a close cousin. They both require a level of accuracy that you must pursue.

See my (now obsolete) Boston Bimmer article on some of the considerations for ED: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yob...013/06/20/amp/

And stop listening to whoever is feeding you this junk.

Don't you need all 17 characters to decode a VIN? That's been my experience. Also, mdecoder works fine in Canada for some reason. Just inputted my wife's x1 and my x3m...got results for both (but you have to enter 17 chars)
