JB 3 install and questions on tune
What will I need to reset on the car after disconnecting the battery to install the JB3? Just to make sure, the JB3 is not detectible by dealers on v81 dme (production 7/08), correct? Do I need to worry about overboosting or spiking using the JB3 in colder weather enviornments or does the software do a good job of controlling boost in any weather temp? (had a 3rd gen rx-7 that overboosted in colder weather). Does anyone know why the Jb3's being shipped now have version 1.1 but it is still called "beta version"? will there be a final 1.1 comming out later? (1.2?) Anyone know if it dials down boost in the upper rpm range? How have oil temps been for those that have it?
thanks for the info |

Wow, lots of questions... I am on my way out the door to meet my wife, so I will be quick.
You will need to only reset the clock after battery disconnect. jb3 is not detected, you will want to purchase the v81/29.2 version The JB3 monitors air temp along with barometer and absolute pressure and adjusts itself to keep boost steady. Its a complex system that keeps your boost optimal at all weather. Its still called "beta" because these first users don't need to pay for map updates, since they are early adopters... I beleive the plan is to just charge a tiny fee for shipping/handling of the new map chips Yes, it has high RPM boost taper to protect the turbos. Oil temps are reported as being either the same, or sometimes even cooler. Most of this info is availible here: http://www.rixeffects.com/store/jb3 Thanks! -Rick |
