? billing error

went shopping to the local coop corner shop
billed £40 and i remember thinking that is too high anyway cashier asked do you need a receipt i said yes(usually say no). she seemed unfriendly. On getting home i noted the bill had 2 items tagged
cp irr ft sum cf and
cp irr ft kn cff
both £3.60 so £7.2 total extra billed which I had no idea about.
The cashier was a young girl.
should I just let this go? Don't want to get her into any trouble as €7.2 is not a problem sum but she was so gruff to me so my kindness is thin.
The shop was closed by the time I looked at the bill
what's the opinion.

Friendly, or not, an overcharge is an overcharge.

I'd definitely query it.

I’d query it.

She may have been balancing the till - a process whereby she overcharges a c card by 7.20 which shows as a till excess which is then pocketed.

A few companies only look at the overall till variation and not the individual variations in cash Vs c cards.

OP, it could be innocent or it may also be that she is running this scam on people where it could make a material difference. You should definitely challenge this.

I had this on Wednesday just gone, at a local Indian restaurant while picking up a takeaway.

It turns out when the chap said: "Long Drive? Fancy a nice pint or Cobra while you wait?" that he was going to charge me £5.95 for the pleasure, which I noticed when settling up for the food I'd ordered.

They will be hearing from my legal team. (My mum).

They can only do that if they charge more than the till says. Since these are both on the receipt I don't think it can be her stealing. Probably either fat fingers or a genuine but cryptic charge.

Why not check the bill while walking out of the shop. Would be much easier to resolve at that point when you can prove exactly what you bought.

Looking at the transaction texts I think this is a distinct possibility. Two separate items; non-product related text; same prices.

My cynical side immediately said "she's skimming".
