VT Question

My 435d is finally getting inspected for collection next weekend.

My service light has gone orange due in 3800 miles - is this a big deal?

The tax is due the end of the month - if they dont collect it by then i dont want to pay another £500+ taxing it... can i sorn it? I dont mind paying the car insurance until collection?

Been such a faff with covid getting bca to get my car!

As long as the service is not overdue then its fine. They can't penalise you if you are VTing it before the next service is due, even if that is within the next few months.

Unsure on the tax, you could SORN it yeah but I would wait until next weekend as you might end up doing the paperwork for nothing if they do collect.

You could SORN or pay by direct debit and probably just make one payment before it’s cancelled.

Still a waste of £45 ish, but not as bad as laying out £500 and waiting for a refund.

As already stated, service light doesn’t matter one bit.

Thanks for the replies... i may as well add a couple of extra miles on it before they pick it up!!

I chased up BCA, and they have said they cant guarantee a collection before the end of the month - seems a little odd they inspect the car next weekend... and then i could add all sorts of miles/ damage to it in the 3+ weeks i have it??! They also said it will need to be taxed and roadworthy?! First MOT will be due at some point in October too.... so will prob just call them daily after my inspection until they get bored of me!!

The guy doing the inspection has always taken the car away with them when I've returned cars to BCA.

I SORNed my last car a week before it was collected. The guy who did the inspection drove it away on trade plates.

So thought i would update this... My F32 went today!

It was inspected 2 weeks ago and then collected today - so no road tax!!!

The kid that collected was only 19 - which was a little concerning; however after having a chat he was really nice.

And yeah they use trade plates so wouldnt need to be taxed.
