BMW Connected app may be spying on your IOS clipboard
Beware!! It appears that BMW Connected app is also copying your clipboard (whatever you "copy/pasted").
Realized this after installing IOS 14. This kind of "app copying device's clipboard" issue was raised earlier with Instagram, LinkedIn and more. If you copy/paste any of your account credentials or sensitive text, be cautious! |

I love the privacy features Apple keeps introducing. Thanks for flagging this — is the only way to prevent this to delete the app? That is, until BMW updates the app.

I'm afraid so. One work around is to use Shortcut app and install "clear clipboard" shortcut, but it is still very inconvenient to clear your clipboard every time...

Well, Connected app got updated today and it seems the clipboard copying stopped. They dont even mention this change in the Appstore version description.
I dont know what to make of this -- maybe they saw this post? I still dont feel good they bc probably were spying on my clipboard all these years. |
