Windshield Scuff (not cracked) Repair?

So I'm on the freeway/highway this afternoon and see a gardening truck... I figure it's not a good idea to be behind it, so I change lanes to avoid it as the freeway comes to a gentle bend and WHAM I see something out of the corner of my eye fly over and strike my windshield (passenger side). Given the curve in the freeway and the proximity of the truck, it must've come from its bed, which was filled with random crap.

Anyway, I'm lucky whatever it was didn't come through the windshield or hit a painted area, but now I have a series of small scuffs in the glass (as though someone look some sandpaper do it. I happened to be by my dealership, and they said it'd be 1600 to replace the windshield. The car's a lease, so obviously, I have to turn it back in to them in 2.5yrs in good condition.

Does anyone know whether the scuffs are repairable? (apparently they can fill in chips, but not scuffs/scratches) It kills me because I baby the car so much

I'm sure you could get a glass shop to polish it out for far less than 1600.

You will need a machine polisher though, so if you don't have one, you may be better off having a glass shop polish it out - it's like anything else, you can polish it with the right abrasives and remove scrapes and scratches (just a little harder than in paint!)

Just to update my thread for future searchers, I contacted a guy who does glass polishing (only.. not the resin crack/chip repair). He worked on it for about 1.5hrs, and it's good as new! If anybody out there has the same issue, feel free to PM me for his contact info.
