Do you guys typically Ceramic coat your leased car? I know it's a personal choice and all that but would love to hear opinions. Waste of money or worth it?

I'm considering it but still unsure.

Why not? It will help keep your car looking great for the entire lease term in most cases. I never understand why people don't seem to care because "it's a lease"...it's still your ride for the next 3-4 years so why not take care of it.

Was thinking it would at least make cleaning the car way easier.

Need to look around for someone reliable in Northern California. The only quote I received so far was $800 for a 2 year or $1700 for a 5 year. Plan to pay for it because I really don't trust myself and wouldn't want to test my skill on a 50K car.

You have to ask yourself why you want a ceramic coating. If you run your car through automatic car washes the majority of the time ceramic coating probably isn't for you. If you devote time to hand washing and "maintenance washes" it's great. So many people think they need ceramic coating but in reality are wasting their money if they're not committed to the essential upkeep.

I definitely will be hand washing my car the majority of the time. It's something I enjoy doing. Not going to say I won't ever run it through an automatic laser wash because I know there will be days when I'm just unable to Handwash but only because I like to wash my car at least once a week.

Nothing wrong if the wash is touchless, although they still use really harsh cleaners and many times recycle the water (which will both decrease the longevity of the coating). That being said, it you enjoy handwashing you will love ceramic coating as it will cut your time in half and keep the deep gloss of a wax. I say do it, and forget that it's on a lease (as long as it's a 3 or 4 year lease...not sure I would do it on a short term 24 month lease).

I ceramic coated my lease and I have no regrets at all. I wash my car myself and the amount of time it's saved me alone has been worth it.

There are a lot of coatings out here now that give you a lot of protection. Turtle Wax, Bead Maker, Maquiers and a new one I am going to try is 303 Graphene. I've never used Ceramic coatings and have good luck maintaining my cars. I typically stay on top of my cars weekly and honestly use car washes especially when it gets too hot or cold. I am somewhat anal about my upkeep but most people other than you really notice or care how deep you can see yourself in the paint.

I agree with what Burrcold said. Do a ceramic coating only if you plan on washing the cat yourself. No car washes with brushes. I use touchless washes when it's too cold. Otherwise I was it myself. Ceramic coating held up perfectly.
I want to try out graphene coating next.

And honestly. You can do it yourself and save a lot of money. I had NEVER used a polisher or pads or anything in my life before. Tried it out for the first time on my A4 and paint correction came out really well. It took me an entire day since I was anal and doing small parts was difficult. But it worked. The second time around, it took me much less time than the first. Plus, if you have a good polisher, that will reduce the time taken too.
Don't be scared to try it out. If I can do it, anyone can. I mean anyone! Hehe.

I took my M3 for a professional ceramic coating and was in love with it everyday. I have an appt next week to bring in the M340. They are both leases. No regrets.

The place I take it to gives you a 14 year warranty but you CANNOT go to a drive thru carwash.

I put a coating on my car and it's leased. No regrets at all, makes maintenance washes a breeze and adds a nice amount of glossiness to the paint. I put GTechniq Crystal Serum Light down with two layers of ExoV4 as a topper.

Mine is a lease and I coated it myself..... no regrets. (detailing is my hobby)

I would not pay for someone to do it and most of the "ease" of washing & etc are nothing but myths. You will still need the wash the entire car like you normally do but won't have to keep up with waxing.....that is the only benefit IMO.

Also, if you introduce swirls & scratches to your coated car, GL with fixing those!

That is one huge down side of coatings that people fail to discuss. Removing coating is a major pain and most bodyshops won't touch your car if you go in for repairs.

So if you know what you are doing when it comes to washes and if you are super super careful with your paint go ahead and get it done. If you don't know what you are doing, I recommend just using products like bead maker, car pro reload & etc and get the car professionally detailed once a year or so to get all the imperfections out.

I would seek another quote. The majority of the work on a coating is in the prep - paint correction and polishing. The materials used in the actual coating might cost twice as much for the longer "warrantee" but they are a small percentage of the overall cost of the job, if it is done correctly.
