M550i - the right about of carbon fiber
Hey all. Planning out what I'm hoping to have done once my aventurine red metallic m550i arrives. I am personally a fan of CF, but it can go overboard really quickly. Looking for some opinions on the right amount of CF in the right places to add to the car.
Currently: - CF mirror caps (port installed) - CF spoiler (port installed) - CF diffuser and m performance trim (port installed) Should I bother with after market side skirts or front lip? If so, what's a reputable place to go for these? My gut is saying to skip the side skirts, but get a subtle front lip. |

I've got CF front lip, side skirts, spoiler, and rear diffuser on order due to be fitted in next couple of weeks. I've gone with gloss black mirror caps though.
I'm also a fan of CF, if you can't tell, and had a fair few parts on my last two BMWs. I share your concern though about it being too much on this car. I guess only time will tell. I'll upload some pics once it's all done. My car is Bluestone metallic. |

The diffuser and trim doesn't show up on the shop bmw website. Do you know the part numbers? I did not get anything installed at the port, but now thinking about doing some CF. CF mirror caps, side skirts, spoiler, side vents, and diffuser are what I am currently thinking. I want to get the car first and then decide if I want to do everything or not. Right now I just have some subtle stuff to add - roundels and floating caps.

I'm thinking the parts are: CF Spoiler - 51192414142 CF Mirror Caps - 51162466670 & 51162466669 CF Diffuser - 51192412405 (diffuser) & 51192412409 (trim) I wanted to get as much as possible on my actual build because I am leasing, so I would only be paying for part MSRP - discount %, residualized. I think roughly $10/mo per $1000 added. |

I was going to lease as I do with most of my cars, but I am already getting the mod itch and know it will not be getting better any time soon - so I decided to purchase the m550. |

I am going with…
RW Carbon front lip and mirror caps(both backordered) Kies Motorsports side skirts and m4 style spoiler M performance diffuser CF emblems all around. I think that gives the car a good balance of carbon fiber without going overboard. Personally I can’t stand the CF on things like side vents, front vents, roof wrapped, or grill are all cheesy and don’t add much to the overall aesthetics. Kind of like the M stripes on grills, I think it cheapens the look. Mines still coming together, here’s some pics as of now. It’s in shop getting full PPF, ceramic coating etc. |
