Junked the Pipercross air filter

I know there is a fair bit of debate over air filters but I haven’t seen any recommendations to fit Pipecross foam drop in filters. Probably for good reason, my car had one fitted when I got it & it’s falling to bits:

You’d probably need to zoom in to see but the foam is falling of round the edges & getting sucked into the engine. There were little bits sticking to the top (clean inlet side) of the air box:

Again you’d need to zoom in, but its an air filters job to stop stuff no amount of zooming will see not create muck!

So it went straight into the bin & I fitted a K&N drop in instead. I know not everyone likes them but I’ve had them on a few on older BMs & they have never fallen apart!

I fitted one a few months back, it's out really this bad? 😲

Couldn't find a K&N one for a 2007 E90 335i,

Go with AFE dry filters. This topic has been heavily discussed.

I had almost the same issues with Pipercross, even made a video about it bc I was so mad, they didn't even wanted to refund... You can see the link for the video below, as some other videos on my channel.

Had the exact same thing happen to me. Mine actually sucked the 2 layers apart. Pipercross is junk.
Luckily Ecs tuning sent me a free k&n as a replacement and it has been perfect ever since.
