1 day m driving school

Kind of off topic...
I had the chance to take the one day m school yesterday in cali. What an amazing day of fun. It was cool getting to drive a bunch of different m cars. I've never been on a track of any sort, but it's awesome. If anyone has the opportunity, well worth it!

Always a fun day! Although I've not yet been to the Thermal location.

The last three times I have gotten the email for "Track Day" both options, and both the half and full day were already sold out!! As was the waiting list. What's the point of sending out the email after the fact? Ha ha.

I am super jealous that you got to go. I will keep trying to register for one in the mean time. Stoked that it was awesome though!

I just attended the New Owners Program at Spartanburg, thanks to my recent X3M purchase. A short program but nice. We drove the Z4, M2 Comp, M340i, M4, and X4M. Unfortunately the X4M was my first one and he had told us to not press the buttons, so I was good and kept it in comfort settings. Later he had us use M1 on the M models. All the cars performed well with the M340i being the softest and the M2 Comp the most playful.

We then drove X5s in the off roads course. Last event was the hot laps. Our instructor for the sessions, Rafael Torres showed off, doing 360s on the skid pad.
They also had a BMW Genius available to answer questions about the cars. I'm still working on the photos and will post a few here.
A fun free event, but I certainly spent plenty in the gift shop.

I attended the M school package last year (compliments of BMW) at the Thermal track and they gave everyone a coupon for 25% off everything in the store. Did you get a coupon? Or are they cutting corners there also?

I believe there are different classes. When you buy a new m, you get the know your car thing (or something like that) . I went to the m one day class ($1650) but got the dealership to pay for it if I bought the car lol. Then I got another 20% coupon for another m class.

I got a discount, but I think it was just 15%. They did have their summer stuff at 35% off.

Yes, there are several levels at several distinct price points.
These are specific to the Spartanburg location. Thermal offerings may be similar but I've not been there yet.

The new owners program was 2 exercises at $299 (but free with a 2020 purchase). Centered around the "buffet" of driving several models at speed and X5s on the off road course.

PCD delivery gets you 3-4 exercises for free plus a 2 hour delivery/genius session plus a factory tour when available. It's centered around braking/skid control and autocross/car control practice with a car like yours. I've had the dealer comp this with a new car purchase off the lot. I think its $499.

Teen school is safe driving and accident avoidance exercises. 1 or 2 days.

One and 2 day schools are ~6 exercises per day focusing on car control.

One and 2 day M schools are 6-8 exercises per day focused on higher speed car control and lapping exclusively with M models.

The BMW CCA club M school is a 1 day M School at half price. A great value at $750. There's talk of an east coast CCA group planing a Thermal club M School in 2021. I'll for sure look into that.

All include instructor driven hot laps. A highlight of the day for anyone.

Plus they do motorcycle training. There was a group doing that on Friday.

Advanced M Schools are at a track (often VIR in the east) and require a regular M school as a pre-req.

What’s the chances of a guest(wife) being able to watch some of the events? Is there an place to spectate. I would love for her to see some of it. I will be doing the 2 Day M school next year.

So my hubby was a spectator. They were super cool about it. Really nice area to hang out. They even took him on a hot lap with the actual instructor. You can see most of the class from the outside waiting area. Since the spectators don't sign a waiver, they can't really participate

Correct. there's a nice little area to spectate and see about 1/2 the track, take photos, etc.
I believe they have an age limit so small kids may not be allowed.

Awesome!! That is great to hear. That would be amazing to take her on a hot lap. She gets nervous when I drive aggressively, she is tolerant but doesn’t love it and is worried sometimes lol. I want her to see just how powerful these machines are and that I am no where near the limits when she thinks I am. It would amazing for her to go on a hot lap. Glad to hear there is an option for spectating.

I should have been more specific. I am going to Spartanburg. Still a spectating area there?
