X3M Throttle Adaptations
Is anyone else having issues with getting used to the amount of throttle needed or the adaptations not learning you?
It seems on a needed quick launch, with just a hair too much throttle it will rocket up to 40 mph and hang in 2nd for several seconds at 4k RPM once you reach the intended speed 45-50. Fine for sport mode, why in efficient And D1? Just a little less throttle and it will jump to 3rd by 20 leaving you in too low of RPM for any reasonable acceleration. The last time I was so frustrated by an automatic, was a 1990 Thunderbird Super Coupe! None of the other BMWs I've had with the ZF8 have done that. My M550i would hold the lower gear for acceleration and immediately start smoothly upshifting the second you let off at speed 2-3-4-5-6 sometimes! Thoughts?

Yeah I notice the same. I never drive in d1. When I need or want it to shift I will just use the paddles. Is it ideal no, but keeps the fun factor high.

I see what you are saying.
To me, I kinda like it. It's almost as if the car is egging me on to go faster and is disappointed when I don't! I dated a girl who had a Thunderbird Supercoupe - Nice friggin' car at the time. Bad news is she dumped me shortly after she got it, good news is she put on over 100 lbs shortly after we broke up |
