2019 X3 Brakes Replaced and Rotors Refaced

Hi y'all,

My X3 was purchased as a demo with 2k miles on it back in 11/2019. I have now about 26k miles on the car and I had to bring it in for service for a noise when I turned the fan on. The service advisor told me that they to order a heater core and a conjunction kit for this issue.

I also told them about my steering wheel shaking when I brake. The service advisor just told me that they replaced the brake pads and refaced the rotors. Is this normal for 26k miles?

Prior to this X3, I had a 2017 x3 which I leased and turned in with over 54k miles on it and I had still had life on my brakes. I did not have to replaced them at all and I loved that car, fully loaded! I would have kept it but to purchase it at the end of the lease was almost the same amount as this demo that I purchased.

Are the 2019 brake pads thinner than the older models? This is very strange to replace the brakes pads at this time. I did not have to pay for the brakes b/c the dealer through in the maintenance ultimate care plus which cover the brakes and pads. Now I am thinking I should purchase the longer care plus which can cover me to 5years/75k miles since I drive a lot and it includes oil changes.

My question is, if I buy this additional coverage/ultimate care plus, I can still have my brakes replaced a 2nd time or is this whole maintenance care plus only one time deal on the life of the car, if that makes sense?

I hope they removed the rotors before they skimmed them, some methods involve bolting the equipment to the hub and spinning it to skim the disc. Not sure I'd want the diff under that kind of stress.

I've got a little over 23k miles on my M40i and had the brake pads replace at my last service visit in November.

You're about to be disappointed but that is the machine bmw shops have now. Actually helps with any runout in the hub as well. It use to be replace rotors and pads. Now it's replace pads and surface rotors.

I will find out. It shows on the paperwork that the front rotors glazed. Front pads measured at 8MM, rotors measured at 23.9 and the spec is 22.4. Resurfaced front rotors and measured at 23.5. I am going to find out what is left on the rear pads. Thanks for that!

I drive previous generation X3- oddly rears wear out sooner than fronts. Someone told me stability control uses rear braking, thus faster wear- but uncertain if that reason is true.
