That controversial BMW commercial
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/...omo-video.html
What do you all think? Not a great commercial IMO, ageism aside. Comes off as tone deaf. |

I literally couldn't make it past about 90 seconds in. I can scarcely believe this is an official production. To say it's crass is a gross understatement. What a joke.

We have commercials up here like a Subaru one that have a husband and wife that have three Crosstreks as kids. This kind of has that same vibe of silliness. Maybe advertising companies think this is the way to target millenials?

It's an attempt to take us to EVs. They at least used an older 7 series, not the current one.
I get what they are trying to do but it doesn't sit well with us old ICE diehards. The iDrive crashing wasn't a good advert. Overall I'm not too against the advert and I think they will refine it. It's not long before more such EVs adverts will tells ICE fans how old fashioned we are.

I was just going to post about this. I am a young Gen X/Old Millenial and this commercial just makes me embarrassed to own a BMW. They really need to find a different marketing/advertising company and quit hiding behind "you don't get it, because you're not hip" excuses for their awful new designs. https://jalopnik.com/bmw-needs-to-st...ple-1846044462

BMW has lost its soul. The snout nosed 4 series and commercials like this confirm my assertion. It's sad.

Going to repost this from the ix thread, because it applies here as well:
Also, ironically, as somebody in their early thirties and in what is probably one of BMWs youngest demographic of buyers, I find their new designs to be not at all attractive. Hideous, is the world I will continue to use. Their marketing keeps making fun of boomers and old people with "dated" opinions, but the fact of the matter is their terrible design doesn't appeal to anybody, young or old. When you have enthusiast forums filled with people grossed out at what the company is pushing out - in addition to nearly the entirety of the car media - the company would be wise to be concerned. |

What.The.Frack. I've seen a lot of ridiculous car ads, but this one is total shite. The cheese has definitely slipped off BMW's cracker...wow.

I see this thing was for the 2021 CES maybe BMW thought that was the market for something like this. I agree, this video should be filed away and not run again.

The irony... All the negativity on an 'X' model forum.
Go back a few years, the introduction of the SUV X5 was a step too far, the end of BMW. |

Good point. I know we moan a lot about the lack of EV charging points. I wonder when the boot will be on the other foot...a lack of petrol stations. We’ll be dragged kicking and screaming into the new world.
