I disagree with their list. Once you get over the more "innovative" drivetrain of the Tesla, the 3-series is objectively a way better car.
And I don't understand why Motor Trend has such a hard on for the E-class as of late. Unless you enjoy had plastic on the lower doors and misaligned stitching on plasticky-feeling MB-Tex, the 5-series is better in every way.

Also Toyota Avalon is a complete joke. How old do you have to be to really want to buy that car? Not many people this car exists, but Kia makes a wonderful full size sedan, the K900. It comes with a seriously luxurious interior, 3.3l TT engine, and AWD. And very appropriately priced, too.

e.g.: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...4778/overview/ A top equipped Avalon TRD/Limited is 46-49k and US Toyota dealerships usually do not offer any significant discounts. So the real life price delta is really not that big. |

Either way, the Kia K900 was ranked, but in the Luxury Full-Size Class at #5 along with the A8, 7er, G90 and LS, etc. The Avalon was in the Mainstream Full-Size class, I'd say thats a compliment to the Kia. |

I will say the discotheque interior has so much going on that it distracts from the the strategically placed low rent materials.

I mean, really?
I suppose their definition of "best" (a subjective term) includes terrible resale and even worse quality. Just wow. That's as bad as JD Powers and their "initial quality" test. Because, you know, we all trade cars ever 2 months. |

The entire class of mid-size luxury cars have plastic below the knee level whether it be door bins or the sides of the center console. From the E-Class, to the Audi A6, Jag XF, Genesis G80, Lexus GS/ES, the 5-series, even the last $110k M850i I sat in had a cheap plastic center console and door bins. Its a pretty common standard in its class and surprisingly even classes above that feature it too.

Really? I can't think of a modern Nissan product that I would take over the equivalent Hyundai/Kia. Nissan has been pretty mediocre and falling in reliability for some years now while Hyundai/Kia have been thriving and getting better.

I agree. Not one Nissan model interest me. Kia and Hyundai really elevated their line up over the years. Heck I'll rather pick their selections over some honda and toyota models.

Really.
Regardless of how pretty something is, it'll first have to get you to where you're going, and second bring some sort of return when you're changing it for something else. Kia is much better than they used to be, but still overall trash compared to Nissan. |
