JB2 reinstall after service, deeper sound
I just got my car back from the dealership two days ago for a service. i had a JB2 installed and dual cone intake. i took them out before the service and i reinstalled them when i got the car back. the car has been making a deeper sound which i cant tell if it is coming from the exhaust or the engine. i am afraid because someone on the forum told me that they might have updated my car and the car might have recorded that i had a chip now. but when i look at my paperwork from the dealer it says nothing about an update, just says service standard scope
service rear brakes and oil service. I hope my warranty wont be voided what do you think? help would be appreciated thanks a lot!

How long did they have it for the service? I've heard it take a good amount of time for the update. Plus most dealers hate doing it due to the fact that it can go wrong and fry the DME. I know mine would rather stay away from doing it unless they have to.

If you removed them prior to the service, you should be okay. But you may have had a progman update and I believe there are certain wires on your jb2 that should not be used. I would contact the SA and let him know about the sound and at the same time inquire about any updates.
Were your pads worn or was it just an erroneous "red car on a lift" warning? I have read that a progman update is in order to fix the false warning. |

YES they updated your software. i remember that when i picked it up my car was noticably louder and there was more drone and there was a bubbly pop sound when i let off the gas. that means they updated your software so when connecting the JB2 make sure NOT TO CONNECT THE GREEN AND BLUE LOOMS!!!! you indeed have 29.2+ software (probably 30.1 or even the newer one)

Its suppose to take longer for an update, I would imagine the update didn't take place since they had to work on other things on the car. If anything does your car feel slower? Or does it have a very noticeable lag now? Or should I say when you got your car back did you notice the lag increased?

Yes, I would ask, "the exhaust seems louder and I was wondering why that might be? Were any software updates performed?"
Another thought: Double check the intake install. Maybe something did not get tightened completely? That may account for the sound. |

I'll bet you anything that you went in for service with a pre 29.2 prgram and left with a post 29.2 program.
The exhaust sound is a little bit louder since the rear wastegate is now open instead of closed. This means that the exhaust passes the turbo and doesn't go through the turbo. Turbos muffle the exhaust tone so there is no turbo to muffle the sound unless you stomp on the gas.
