Could someone really explain to me how DTC works???

Could someone explain to me how DTC works?

I got a '09 335i coupe on order, and did not know too well that it didn't have a E-LSD like the 135i.

anyhow... what happens when you turn off DTC???

i know by having DTC... it provides power to the tire with the most traction equally.

but when you turn it off, and lets say you take a turn... which tire is getting more or less power?

whats the difference? assuming the same road conditions (flat, smooth)

so DTC is designed to control wheelspin right? at any time?

well can you do a Burnout with DTC on??? so if you wanted to do a burn out, you almost always have to turn off DTC right?

in a nutshell dkg/dct is a 7 speed gearbox on the 335i with sport mode and new electronic shifter. you have 2 clutches 1 even gears and one for odd so the shifts are amazing fast and percise.

Missed the point here bud. DTC is "Dynamic Traction Control" My understanding is that by pressing the DTC button briefly, thus activating DTC. All of your DSC thresholds are raised and the vehicle is allowed to slip a little bit more before regulation takes place. Pressing it for more than 2 seconds deactivates DSC and DTC and you are left with ABS and DBS "Dynamic Brake Control" Basically balancing the brakes while cornering to keep the car stable, does not intervene the way DSC does though. Believe me, I know these systems are very confusing.

LOL what the??

OP, this is how it works:

Normal: DSC ON - DSC OFF
-your car is unable to slip because the electronics are monitoring slippage and preventing it

Hit the DTC button once: DSC Limited - DTC ON
-like above mentioned, you can now power-brake to gain optimal traction without having a plume of smoke...allows slippage but it is now more like an electronic-type LSD...usually used for tracking/drag strip launches

Hold the DTC button for 5 seconds: DSC OFF - DTC OFF
-all holds on traction are off...
-drive at your own risk
-you will leave a plume of smoke if you power brake, or if you have a tune and step on it in 1st gear....
-while cornering, the wheel with the least amount of traction will spin the most...i.e. Open Diff....

i drove my car for a month thinking that pressing DTC once completely shut off traction control.. then i finally realized that by holding down the DTC button for 2 seconds you get the little circle triangle hazard sign and thats when i really started having fun with the car

Just to be clear what you're thinking off is the real limited slip differential. That is not offered on non-M cars thus both the 1 and 3 series don't come with them.

If you just want to drive your car: leave it alone

If you want to have some fun: press DTC once

If you want to make your passenger (preferably gf) piss themselves: press and hold DTC for 5 seconds
