Question BM3: burble and active sound

Sorry for the super basic question, but is there any way to disable active sound but enable burbles?

I see the button in Diagnostic menu to disable Active Sound, but it says it will disable burbles also.

Thanks for your help!

Can you shut off ASD with BimmerCode but keep the burbles via BM? That was my plan for when I finally load my BM flash

Yes you can. You can even go cray cray with BM3 and your burble intensity or duration and have ASD off.

So it sounds like if you only have BM3, unable to disable ASD with burble enabled?

And it requires a separate coding device to disable ASD?

I have BM3, using custom burble settings. I disabled ASD using bimmercode. Still burbles with ASD off.

Trying to understand ASD. Is there a way to disable it without third party coding? To each his own, and I love the performance, but don't need the noise.

Yes, pull fuse 218 and it’s gone (put back in for dealer software updates).

This is on my 2020 so confirm it is the same for 2021.

As long as you don’t drop the fuse it takes 5 min. If you do you may end up with several hours of work dismantling the trunk like me lol.

2022 fuse is different, super annoying not sure if its 209 or 215 now. Need to play around.

I was under the impression that pressing the exhaust tailpipe button on the center dash area disables Active Sound Design.

When I disable it with the button, there is no overrun/burbles when downshifting. Also makes WOT a bit quieter. When I keep it on (green light on) I get burbles and louder WOT.

After testing you are correct. That button disables valves AND ASD. so I can have my sub on, but then no exhaust note. This car is overly complicated

Leave it to BMW to give you a way to disable ASD while removing another feature.

That's dumb. I have zero idea why ASD even exists.

I pulled fuse 203 earlier today to keep the valves open on my LCI. Definitely improved the sound for me!

Are there YouTube vids on how to mess with the fuses?
