Wheel Cleaner

What wheel cleaner do you guys use? I noticed the one BMW sells is the same as the Meguiars All Wheel Cleaner. Maybe there are better ones out there you all use? I have the steel brakes not the carbon ones.

is that true for CCBs? I've seen its ok to use an acid free wheel cleaner, but almost all places say to use soap and water only. no wheel cleaners.

Brake buster - it's fairly inexpensive and does a pretty good job with the wheels and the tires.

Ayy P&S brake buster all day. Just dilute it a little and dump it in your foam cannon. It also has anti-rust properties so your rotors won't have too much rust on them after the wash.

Absolutely - It's a great product.

Also a fan of their bead maker. But I quickly learned to use significantly less than my first try.

The wheels on the M5 (20 inch) have too many crannies. A pita to really get clean. I clean them at wheel swap over (winters on same rims, I have two sets). I have my summers all cleaned up and ready to go for new tires. I bring the rims in as clean as possible. So if those MFs damage the rims it is easily seen. No excuses. That being said, I just clean the rims with fingers and sponge and a good seat. All the different sprays I have tried cannot get the dirt off, at least not in my experience, the only thing that does it is contact with a wet soapy sponge. The brake dust is brownish so it shows up on the black parts.

Anyone remember those "CleanWheels" inserts? LOL....back in the day I guess ventilation for the rotors was not a 'thing.'

No wheel cleaner for ceramic brakes. One it’s not necessary and wheel cleaners can stain rotors.

I’ve got ceramics on my non BMW and car wash soap and water does all that’s needed.

This stuff is amazing. Just used it for the first time tonight, and now I will never go without some of it again, if I can help it! I had some pretty freaking dirty wheels (my red calipers were pretty much black!), I sprayed this stuff on it, and then I pretty much could have just pressure-washed it off, and it would have most likely still worked! I chose to use my handy-dandy new speed brush, though, and new detailing brush, and then some microfiber drying action and some tire dressing, and now my wheels look as good as the day I brought her home—maybe better!
