I have been waiting on bootmod3 to become available for my 2021 x3m Comp. Saw a post about race chip recently and looked at it. Saw it was $100 off and pulled the trigger. However, I though it was just an obd flash. I didn't realize it plugs into the sensors like a piggyback tune. Had I realized this, I think I would have bought burgertunings jb4.....

Anyone have experience with both? I have had jb4 on two prior bmws. I liked them a lot.

Is racechip comparable? I bought the gts with phone connection.

Same position as you with a 2021 and having JB4's on prior vehicles. I posted in the JB4 thread for reviews and haven't heard. Let me know what you are seeing/hearing.....

I got my chip today, I install it on sat. So we will see.

I posted a dyno. It gets a good bump in power, but I'm not sure what you're looking for as far as power goals. You can adjust the settings as far as how aggressive you want it to be but there's no tunability. There's no driveability issues that I've noticed.

@sittingmongoose I had pre-ordered BM3 prior to picking up my car, having then found out from this usergroup that it cannot be flashed to 2021 car I recieved a refund last week for the unused license and subsequently ordered the RaceChip and it has been dispatched today, as per the query here: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=24 i would like to know if you aim to gain access from the RH wheel area (as the jb4 guide says I believe) or to remove the whole undertray as per RC installation guide??



just to add, once I realised it could not be used, I contacted PTF for advice when the BM3 will become usable on my car, they never replied so I went with RC with £100 off spring sale (GTS black w/App)

Hey. Another Houston X3MC here. I have been running the JB4 for a few weeks. Noticeable difference than stock but still pulling logs on Map 1 before bumping to Map 2. I am very pleased with it, but like another user asked, what are your goals? Another X3MC here in Houston that I know has the Racechip. He is "F.this97" on IG. He will probably respond to messages and give you his feedback on the RC.

I guess power difference between rc and jb4. Are there features that one has and the other doesn't? I never had the mobile app stuff on jb4 but I went with the option on rc.

I don't plan on doing any physical mods like exhaust, Downpipe, etc. I will also be running 93 oct as the closest e80 gas station is about 25 minutes away. It's a lease so I don't want to go nuts with mods.

I believe the bootmod 3 will be a step above the jb4/rc in terms of power. Maybe 20hp or so. But I guess correct me if I'm wrong.

I’m in the same boat - impatient waiting for bootmod to crack the code on 2021. How’s the install in the race chip/JB4 particularly the front wheel well sensor?

Honestly I think you'll be happy with the racechip, especially if you're not planning any other mods

Please let us know how it goes... lots of 2021 and late 2020 folk waiting to pull the trigger on the race chip or wait. But we're so tired of waiting lol..

Subscribing, in the same wait boat. I have an X3MC lease as well and likely just going to get the RC or JB4...comparison review would be nice if anyone has any. I'm not planning on any other mods.

They are very similar power wise jb4 might have more now as a tune development continues more. JB4 with e85 tune or other options will be much higher. There’s only so much that can be done with a piggyback.

Very few folks have posted jb4’s because this last year bm3/mission were supported, anyone that wanted to push went flash.
