What do you think about the new Jeep with Hemi motor?

Honestly, I think its awesome....reviews are REALLY GOOD. I have a JL 3.6L and can only imagine the fun of having that V-8 under the hood. Have to hand it to Dodge, Jeep for making exciting fun cars....

Just built one for shits and it was 80k and you can't get a manual or a 2-door version. IMO if they're charging hellcat money they might as well have dropped the supercharged engine in it. Base charger is as much as a base wrangler, hellcat charger is as much as 329 wrangler...

Even if we assume that the hellcat drivetrain would simply be too dangerous in the unstable Wrangler, where is the $30k value increase between the Rubicon and Rubicon 392? You can go buy a crate 392 Hemi for 10k.

It also has pretty much every single option you can put on a Wrangler except the one-touch top, but yeah it would be nice if they offered a stripped down base version with just the engine/lift/suspension stuff. With tax/fees it would be like $85k here, that's a lot for a Wrangler as much as I love mine...

As much as I love Wranglers, $83K (which is what I built one at) is far too much for a Wrangler. Because you have to put money into it as soon as you get the thing, lift, tires, gears (if needed). I mean, that's crazy money. Jeep as a whole has to be making a freaking killing off of these cars. They should cost $30K fully loaded considering its like a motor, transmission, two axles, and some electronics lol. How much you think Jeep makes for every Wrangler sold? Remember how Porsche made a killing on each 911, I would assume Jeep has something similar.

Yeah it's gotta be a huge cash cow for them. Great marketing and branding around it, people absolutely love em yet they're like a street legal dune buggy in terms of amenities. You're gonna be out 100k after the mods you listed, might as well go buy a used G550.

I have a lifted JK and can't say I'd care to purchase a 392 Wrangler.
It's still going to have straight axles and drive like a 15' Uhaul moving truck. If they through on IFS and improved build quality overall I might consider but in the end it's still a cheap Jeep.

Most people drive it on roads more than offroad so it would only make sense to improve road manners. At least Ford understands this logic.

They should keep a straight axle version which im guessing would only make up a small percentage of sales. It would keep the "hardcore" guys from throwing a tantrum.

Nice to know that they are adding in v8 to the Wranglers again. I like it though I would replace the front bumper with a stubby one and get bushwacker pocket style fender flares for a more aggressive look.

I don't understand why ppl buy Wranglers and keep complaining about bad handling on pavement. This thing was born to shine in the wild and very few others can come close to it. There are plenty of SUVs and trucks with IFS and much better road manners (but much less capable off-road) to choose from.

But I do agree with you that V8 in Wrangler is just plain stupid!
Diesel though sounds really appealing to me...

I agree. Mine is just used for trail fun, beach fun, snow and short trips to the grocery store - if it gets carted, or dinged or smashed, it just adds character

I would never want this as a daily driver, even when it was stock, it was not a very good ride. It's much more reliable than my old Land Rover that it's taken over duties for though.

Many people don’t have the luxury of having more then one vehicle so having good on and off road manners is a benefit. I’m sure stock for stock the Bronco will perform off-road at least equally as well with IFS.

I had a buddy when I was in my 20's (so the early 80's) put a 350 Chevy small block in his CJ7, it had a lift kit and big mud tires. We off loaded a fair bit and there is something to be said for grunt when you're off road. I think he had $10K in the thing. I don't see my self spending $80K on a Jeep, if I was going to be serious about something like that I'd be looking at the new Bronco.

I am loving the last of the powerful ICE powered vehicles. Will be letting my 2020 Denali Diesel go in the near term for the Ram TRX. None of the big three even have any new v8 engine development planned for the future (that is not started already the C8 is all I am aware of). The industry has completely capitulated and will put out a few of these type vehicles and then --- it is about electric motors baby.

Going to enjoy it while I can. Just watch the news tonight and you will understand.

Have you ever tried 4Runner or Tacoma? Or Shevy Colorado ZR2? Or Ford Ranger?
They all are pretty darn good in off-roading. But once in a while you need good suspension articulation and then this happens

Of course this guy chose a really bad line and probably hesitated (or even hit brake) when the left front wheel hanged in the air.
But most likely a Wrangler would go through the very same line without sweating.

With all that said I really doubt Bronco will be significantly (if at all) better than a, say, 4Runner. Unless you go long travel setup which is a totally different story...

You really think Ford is putting all this R&D into the Bronco and going to let themselves fall short of the Wrangler?
