Let's Talk Performance...

Hello Everyone!
I would like to talk performance with you, and start a group discussion on what the pros and cons of the difference kinds of performance mods are. There are definitely hundreds of posts, and i'm sure a few you will flame this post but let's keep it to the topic... I would like (in a utopian post) for people to come in with their opinions about products, ask questions, and feel like they can say things with out being told off. I feel like people get upset when people ask questions that have been answered but if people didn't ask questions would there be an e90post?
Let me start off with my questions..
1) Vishnu Rev2/V3 or JB3 PnP 1.1
2) Intake, and if so, which brand... (i'm thinking afe cold air)
3) Exhaust? Eisenmann, Borla, AE, or Other...
4) BOV, which brand...

These are all of my questions for now, but if i have anymore i will for sure let you know.. And if anyone else has questions please feel free to ask!!
Thank you All for Your Time,
Izzy P.

Why do you say JB3>Rev2?
Also with AE, why do you choose that over other brands?

Separately, what else performance wise could you do to this car? And by performance i mean HP gains..

honestly man, you haven't read enough threads if you cant answer these questions.
there is no harm in reading all the information already available to you.
Also you're so confident you can get sponsored but you don't seem to know even the basics.

Get a tune, either V3 or JB3
Get an intake
Get a FMIC
Get an exhaust

I know, that was completely useless. I just wanted to follow the trend so far.

I say JB3 over Rev2 because it is cheaper, provides the same gains, and from your questions it doesn't seem that you need to be able to adjust everything.

I picked AE because I feel it sounds the best.

You could also do an intercooler, for that I would recommend Helix.

as for my preferences

- V3 due to its ease of upgrading firmware and maps. I can tweak my low boost and high boost maps that I can change just by using my homelink on my mirror. If i'm feeling the need for race gas, just hook up the old laptop and take 10 seconds and load the map. Then I can datalog everything the car is doing like IAT's, boost, blah blah blah. Maybe its just me, but being able to fiddle w/ the settings and testing them to see what the result is has helped to keep my car of serious interest to me. I have the past history of getting bored w/ cars, so far, there is no threat of that w/ the 335.

-Intake - I'm running the UR intake and really like it. I plan on upgrading the size of the filter however, I feel that would be a benefit. I dont plan on changing my intake unless I really see something that knocks my socks off, which I doubt will happen.

Exhaust - Just got the britalman exhaust, looks like good quality, but have not installed it yet so I cant comment on the look or the sound. All I know, get catless DP's to maximize your gains and the sound....doesnt matter what brand. UR are the cheapest I think, I have them and they work and fit great.

BOV - dont get one, go w/ upgraded DV's from Forge or stay w/ stock if you dont see a loss of boost on your gauge or V3 datalogs.

back to my Beam

oh wait, you didnt mention an intercooler, get the Helix...its a great design for cooling capacity and in the value department. I have it, love it.

No

(Except that Rev 2 is not yet available, but when it is, there is no downside to it)

The JB3 is not cheaper. In fact, it's the other way around ($745 for v3 Lite, $779 for JB3) And the v3 offers a few unique additional features. These include:

1) Speed delimiter
2) User interface software for diagnostics and datalogging
3) Doesn't require the purchase of "chips" to update maps
4) And can be upgraded to the full-on Race version when/if the customer needs it.

All the user adjustability that you believe the OP doesn't need doesn't even come with the Lite version (only the Race version).

Just clearing up a bit of confusion. Good luck to the OP... sifting through these threads can be work

Or, from what I've been told, adjust battery settings for "max performance."

Great to hear Good choice on the Race version. I suspect most people who opt for the Lite will be shipping their unit back in for the Race upgrade sooner than they think.

It's worth nothing that all the PROcedes we ship out are programmed with a mac notebook running Parallels. Works just fine!

Cheers.

You're all good. Vista works fine. Just make sure you either keep it plugged into a power inverter or set the battery settings to "Max Performance." Otherwise Vista has a tendency to drop comms when the system voltage drops. Following these tips, lots of customers are using Vista with zero problems.
