Hi guys

I ordered my G80 on March 13, and have yet to receive a production number. The spec is a base model.

My CA says that BMW didn't anticipate the demand for the car and as a result, they've had a hard time getting a slot. But, we're now 5 weeks in without a number.

That normal? Anyone else having issues?

I believe base allocations are somewhat hard to find. I would call around and try and find one, spread your risk a bit. Your dealer may get a base allocation shortly, or may not. You don't have an order until you get a production number, and you don't get a production number unless your dealer has an allocation.

I called around to probably a dozen dealers to find an allocation, and got the production number right when I was ordering it.

What have you ordered?

BMW allocations for April haven't cascaded to most dealers. They are due this week. But word is that it won't be much.

Supply constraints not allowing them to issue as many allocations.

A base M3, 6MT in Portamao Blue.

It was "ordered" March 13, but no production number has been given. The GM of my dealer has spoken directly with NA, but allocations seem to be hard to come by.

Thanks. From what I gather, if I don't hear by the end of this week, I shouldn't expect anything till end of May? Is that accurate?

Not exactly. Dealers should still get their April allocations, if not this week - then next.

The more important thing to ask your dealer is how many G80/82 orders they have and where you stack in their orders list. If they're a volume dealer, they'll get a few allocations and if they're a small dealer, they'll get 1-2 per G80 and G82.

If the wait is getting long and anyone is looking for Brooklyn Gray MT, let me know as my dealer has one in stock.

Thanks. They're a center of excellence, so I think they're pretty high volume. It's an out of state dealer; I went through a broker. I don't want to harass them as they've been very responsive.

I'll wait till the end of the month and then reach out again and see where I am on the list.

no production number means no allocation.

if you are dealing with a broker the broker is at the mercy of the dealer he is working with. The dealer they may be working with may be taking care of their customers first not sure. Either way hopefully you get one soon and are not waiting too long.

Going on 6 weeks for me. Nada. M3 Base


My dealer has reached out twice so far letting me know comp allocations were available. Turned down 2 of em so far.

Agree with you. I'd rather be patient than disappointed 6 months down the road. Still waiting.

I received a production number shortly after placing the order. It was a while ago, and I'm no expert, but you might want to check with another dealer.
