LED door projector cut off

I have seen several posts where OEM BMW LED Door Projectors are successfully fit on the X7. I know about trimming the body to fit the projector. I was hesitating initially and finally decided to go for it.

I just got the OEM projectors(63312468386) and I even double checked with the shop before purchasing and they said it is compatible with the X7.

I finally cut the body and pushed it in and see that it is getting cut off. How do you guys fit it in X7 without the logo getting cut off?

I have a OEM set I would sell, in case anyone is interested. I am just too swamped right now and they will end up just sitting in my glove box.

I've seen this result in another post about the projectors. Unfortunately, mine didn't have this result when r33_RGSport installed mine, so I don't know what to tell you. Mine turned out fine.

The issue seems to be not with the projector and the installation bracket itself, but that the edge of your light beam is catching the bottom of the door lip (where the reflection bit is, in your door picture above). Could the projector be tilted inwards towards the door, because of the tightness internal to the installation bracket? I know r33_RGSport had to grind some of the door internal to the bracket to get my projector to fit.

Yeah I found out the cause. Yes you are right the projector is tilting a bit inward because of the internal part. It is also causing the projector to be pushed with a large force to push it in. Not sure how this is any different in other X7s.

It’s those models of projectors. I used the older oem clear plastic projectors and there was no issues at all for all 4 doors. (Part# 63312414105)

I would think the bigger concern is whether or not the original projectors will still fit since you had to trim the hole to get the new ones in.

Your situation is the reason I decided not to even bother installing them until BMW comes out with ones that are specifically designed for the X7 and require no cutting/trimming. Just pull the original ones out and pop in the new ones. There shouldn't be any need for modifications if they are designed for X7.

1. Yes the original ones still pop in fine.
2. No, I dont think BMW ever will release a X7 specific one. The instructions on this projector explicitly calls to trim out the edges with a blade

I'd imagine it clashes with the "carpet lights" a bit, right?

No, I think it fills in the gap of the carpet lights. Here is a pic from my last G05 X5. The X7 looks the same.

Notice the projection color is a spot on match to the lighter door sills.

Yeah, I suppose the carpet starts further back than I realized. Works well with the M logo, a bigger BMW logo might be a bit munch for my taste if it's too large and closer.

If it is not a lot to ask, would you be able to pop out the projector and see if you have the same body design as I posted earlier? I dont generally buy from Ebay and don’t know if I can return the product if it doesnt fit. I am ready to order the older version from the link you sent

They are really snapped in there. I wouldn’t want to pull them out unless one was burned out for fear of cracking the light housing.
They are definitely different than the ones you purchased. The link I supplied above should show you what the clear plastic oem housing looks like. I have installed this model of projectors on everything from a G05, G07 and a M2C. No cutting required.

There is a pic in this link of the model I use.

Sure, understandable. The ebay seller responded to my message saying that it is not compatible with my car :/

Which year X7 do you have? All G07s should have the same body design right?

Thanks, going to pull the trigger and order the one you linked on ebay. The seller has mentioned no returns and also said it is not compatible with my car, which is sounding scary. But hoping to trust that the part worked for many members and going to try

Be sure to update us on how it goes. Pictures or a video would be great if you have the time.

I have gone through that post before I got my projectors. Now it makes more sense. I will post an update there
