Battery replacement

First of all, I did a search to see if this has already been discussed.

earlier this week i noticed my 06 325i having some starting issues. usually it roars to life as soon as i push the button, but it was hesitating a little. i just attributed that to it being colder.

then yesterday, i drove my car from atlanta to macon, ga (about 1.5 hours south). parked my car at a coffee place. came back outside, tried to start it up, nothing. the radio worked, the windows, the door locks, everything, but the car wouldn't start. i figured it was some kind of electrical problem, maybe with the starter, but not the battery since all the gizmoes were working fine.

called up the dealership, they came and jumped it, and it started fine. they tested it out and said it needed a new battery, which they put in for free (i wasn't sure if the battery was still under warranty or not because i know a lot of car companies don't include battery in the warranty more than a year out). nothing else was wrong with the electrical system.

anyone else have a similar problem? did a battery replacement take care of it? i don't want to get stranded somewhere not near a dealership and it be something worse than the battery.

It's a bit strange for the battery to die this early. You should normally expect a battery to last 5 years or more if the car is driven regularly. Batteries do go bad early, so it's not unheard of. Have you ever accidentally let the battery discharge? Letting he battery discharge can shorten its life.

Sounds like it was a bad battery. I wouldn't worry about it.

My wifes 2004 325i's car wouldn't start. She got a AAA jump and the driver thought it might be a dead battery. Does anyone know what type of battery I should get as a replacement? Another source said the Interstate - 85 Months (MTP-H7) was a good replacement. Any thoughts.........anyone?

It is not unusual at all for a battery in a hot climate like Atlanta to die after a couple years. Just about any car I have ever owned has required a new battery in a little over two years here in the Southern CA Desert.

thanks for the replies. i am satisfied it was just the battery, now. it has never discharged (to my knowledge), though.

the dealership replaced it with an exide brand battery. hope it's a good one.

I had the same problem right now. It's hestitating to start up in the morning or even when I park very long time (around 8 hours). After I start my car, I drive to the closest dealer (around 10 miles) and let them check it. They said everything is fine (I assumed it was fully charged when I got to the dealer). Anyone has same problem or recommendation?

Battery Charge is very Low"""""

This is the messege I get after turning off the car 325i, and Listening to some Audio CDs with mid-high volume, then it automatically shuts the Audio system down.

Its normal that a battery die within a coupe of years in hot weather country.

good luck....

I guess that after 3 years has passed already to those 2006 babies, they will start opening their mouthes for services and replacements.

Its a BMW, not a Toyota...! (lol)

Also try ODYSSEY. . They're well known and very good quality but will be expensive compared to Interstate, Exide, etc.

They have a battery selector on their website.
