2021 X4 M40i ordered!
New to the forum and just ordered my first BMW. I have always liked the style of the X4 and ordered an M40i in arctic white with the shadow-line package. I know an LCI is coming for the X4 in 2022, but took the plunge anyway.
The ordering process was easy, but I have one question -- regarding wheels. I want(ed) a machine and glossy black finish, but was disappointed with the wheel color choices. Ended up going with the 20" 699M (non-run-flats) and at delivery, the dealership will look into powder-coating the gray to black. I have read a lot about powder-coating, but I am curious about long-term and how they will wear. Following this, I have a --I believe you all call it 'squared setup'-- question next. Thanks for any input. |

I wasn't crazy about the wheel choices either but the 699m's are growing on me. I'm in wisconsin and will put the winter tires on these and buy a set of black 20 or 21's for the summer performance tires. I just picked my 2021 up at the performance center delivery

Thanks, great looking vehicle.
I am still researching, but I am looking at going with a square setup of RTX Black Widow wheels with 20x9 ET40 and 245/40/R20 tires. Seems like a good compromise setup and there are plenty of tire options in that size. Last edited by newtoncd8; 06-22-2021 at 06:41 PM.. |

I had my dealer paint mine and they charged $800 for all four wheels. They didn't offer powder coating and gave their reasons, it appears the internets is divided on powder coat vs painting for rims but whatever. I think it looks fantastic and they left the M badge on the rims stock. Sorry I don't have an on angle picture available.
