My S7 stolen while in repair at dealership
My godness… as much as I love the car, it has been in shops for numerous things during my ownership. Today, I got a call from dealer GM that it was stolen from the dealer yesterday.
Did anyone have similar experience and/or what would be the typical outcome for this matter? |

I haven't experienced this but I've worked claims with similar circumstances. The shop's insurance should cover either the cost of the repairs (assuming the car is found and is damaged) or the value of the car if it isn't recovered. I'm sure others will chime in here about how they'd have XYZ's head on a stick if they didn't get (insert crazy amount of compensation here), but the reality is that they owe you for the cost of the car or repairs, not really to make you better than you were. That said, best case is that the car isn't recovered and you just get paid out. Theft recoveries have horrible issues further down the line. You have no idea how it was driven while out of your care. Could be a total headache down the line so even if recovered I'd push for it to be a total loss.
You also have the option of involving your insurance company and going through their theft process. They will end up charge the shop's insurance company for the costs associated with your claim but you'll likely have to incur whatever your comprehensive deductible is. You may be able to take advantage of any additional coverages you have on your policy like new car replacement etc this way.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. I guess the only silver lining is that the used car market is bonkers these days, so you might make out with a lot of money to put into something else.

Every state I've lived in you are required to keep a copy of your registration and insurance card with you if you are driving, most people leave it in the glovebox or on the driver's side visor.

Exactly. Last time brought in the car, it was side wiped, now stolen. According to GM, thieves cut the power, broke in, drove off cars in the shop which were all unlocked with keys inside. Two of six cars they stole was pre-prepped cars and only had 25 miles of drive range which they dumped near by.

Brah, it's 2021. Didn't someone here post a few weeks ago about having their M850i (which they had already signed papers for) in a mysterious transport accident at the dealer that totaled the car (yet the dealer could not provide damage pics) AKA they sold it to someone else for more money.
Bet they somehow sold it to someone.
