New Owners Track Drive and M Track Drive

Recently did the New Owners Track Drive in Thermal Ca. and decided to make it a trip and added the M Track Day the next day as well. Overall great experience and I would definitely do it again.

First day was the New Owners Track drive which included driving the SAVs on a little offroad track they have and then switching to the road cars to drive around the track. These included the Z4 M40i, the M2, M4 and the X3M. We got turns driving all of them. Then the instructors took us in the M5 competitions 3 at a time to show us some drifting around the track.

Next day was the M Track drive and which was driving the M4s around the larger track they had for a number of laps.

If anyone is interested I can go into more detail but just wanted to share some pics and thoughts incase anyone was interested in potentially going.

I keep procrastinating on doing the New Owner one. I visited the place a couple of weeks ago when I was staying with my son down near Oceanside. The drive to get there was very fun, but I think I was pushing my skill level just a tad coming over Route 74 from Temecula down into Palm Desert. Having said that, the X3 M40i handles in a way that almost seems to defy the physics associated with that vehicle.

I'm glad you said that because I have to admit I enjoyed driving the Z4 the most even above the M4. Something about the sound and the speed in what feels like a much smaller car is just so nice. Really makes me want to get one in the future... Hopefully they go down in price soon.

Also, stop procrastinating and sign up dude! Its amazing that they offer this for free for new owners but honestly I would be happy paying for it as well. You have to find a slot that is even available so I would pick some times you'd like to go and give them a call to see what they have available.

It was my first full week off of "actual" pto since covid started so it was much needed.

But now I've been looking at cheap track cars to buy so I can do it again and more often haha.

Looks like fun. How long is the New Owners thing? Like half a day?

No, its actually just under 2 hours... They have half day and longer classes but those are in the thousands. You can find more info here: https://bmwperformancecenter.com/experiences/

I just went to SC for a M track day and drove M2C, M4C and M5C and I can't say enough about the experience. I will definitely go back! Absolutely awesome!!!
