only days before gears of war 2 and call of duty world at war... im pretty fucking pissed off. should i send it and wait (for those of you who have done this, how long did it take for you to receive your 360 again?), buy another regular 360 or buy an elite?

Go to costco get a 360 then send yours away. When Microsoft returns your new 360 take the other back to costco for a refund. Haha, buddy of mine did that and apparently it works!

Don't feel too bad. I just lost my elite's dvd-drive to the "make crazy noises and don't read disks" failure. If you dont have a problem with looking like a geek, go check an ebgames for the used halo 360. It was 40 dollars less than a used elite yet they have all of the same features, including HDMI. I got it for $160!

when you send it in, does everything on the hard drive get erased? thats the only thing holding me back from sending it in minus the hassle and shit

No.. you remove the hard drive and hold onto it. Do not send it back to them.

I just RROD'd mine and sent it in for repair. Took 19 days from service request to receipt of refurb'd unit. This is now my 3rd XBOX 360.

If you live closer to Mesquite, TX...I live in California for example, it could cut up to 4-5 days off that I think.

Just send it in for repair. If you can't wait a couple weeks, then you need to maybe re-prioritize the things going on in your life.
