Refund of deposit
Hi All,
I had put down a deposit for a X3 M40i last month and the vehicle has gone into production. I am having second thoughts on whether I should have test driven a X5 40i considering both the vehicles are very close in the price range. My question: Is it possible to get the deposit refunded and applied to a new X5 (if I like the vehicle)? I will have a chat with my rep but thought of checking here as well. Thanks! |

Yeah, deposit should be refundable, even if you decide you don't want a BMW at all let alone if you decide to get an X5 instead. They'll have no issue selling that X3 to someone else. Even if the paperwork says it's not refundable that's not true.
When I ordered my X3 the dealer didn't even take a deposit from me, which was nice. I used to drive an F15 X5 and recently drove the new X5 but specifically picked anothe X3 M40i. The X5 is more luxurious and rides softer but also feels huge and way heavier to drive. New X5 is too wide and not very sporty. |

I ordered an X3 M40 from another dealer out of state but local dealer came back with a better deal so I canceled and had no issue getting the deposit back. The X3 I ordered from the other dealer arrived and sold within a week. Can't fathom how they would give you a hard time if you're swapping to another vehicle through them.

The wife and I drove the same two cars. The X5, larger, smoother, quieter while the X3 was much sportier being the X40i. Felt far more powerful and responsive. The X3 was easier to get in and out of as well.
