Question about V3 map updates and stuff..

I was just wondering why there are so many V3 map updates? Does each map offer something new in terms of configuration? or performance? Or do the maps just change a few variables that the user can adjust themselves? Or are the maps something that can't be configured by the end-user but only by Shiv? And technically, can any user make their own map with the software included with the V3? And if they can, why haven't we seen more user-configured maps uploaded? Usually anytime there's "open source" software, different variations arise from various people. Some might be able to improve upon what has already been done.

Has there been any maps that have caused more harm than good? Hypothetically, if someone bought a V3 off a friend that is unaware of e90post or has any internet access, and the map that was loaded onto the V3 was a beta one, could it potentially harm the car if the map never gets updated again?

And let's say there was a map that was perfect for me, but then one day I decided to add race gas, and a new exhaust, downpipes... will I be able to make adjustments through the software myself? Or will I have to request a special map be made for it?

Just curious how much freedom is given to the end-user in terms of adjustabilities, and if different maps have changes made to the software that the end user can't make themselves?

Thanks.

New updated maps come out each time we add more features. In the last of the last few updates, the new features have been pertaining to user adjustable parameters. The maps coming out next will have the new lag&rattle fix feature on it.

The actual/timing and boost mapping hasn't changed since v3 was initially released earlier this year.

I'll answer the rest of your questions in a bit.. gotta tune a car.

from the best that I know, there are V3 maps out there that will cover all current BPU mods. No need for a custom map.

one question for Shiv, now that you have an upgraded FMIC on your car, are you planning on tweaking any of your maps to take advantage of the FMIC? If I remember correctly, you tweaked things in your race gas map that is not released.

lastly, I'm heading to the track on the 15th, want to try out your newest race map for FMIC equipped cars. Sent a PM w/ phone number. Have not heard anything.

Got your PM Sniz.... I'm going to be posting new beta maps (Stg 0, 1 and 2) up tonight. They will have revised IAT compensations, a couple more safety features and the new lag/rattle fix feature. I'll have Stg 3 maps (pump and race) ready for beta testing soon. Due to the power level it is capable of making (420+whp), I don't want to make it a public beta release just yet. The requirements to run that map are really really strict (straight race gas, no cats, FMIC). I'll let you know when it is ready for you (and others who I trust can follow directions )

Shiv, I just tried the lag fix on my car which recently got updated to post 29.2. The response is definitely improved compared to when I first got the update but when I monitor debug word 3 I still see a value of 11-13% at idle. Is this normal? Can I get on the mailing list for testing the rattle fix as well? Thanks.

Yes, with the lagfix activated, you will still see debug 3 at 10-20%. But you definitely will feel the difference.

Shiv when the new maps come out you said tonight, is it beneficial for us OPs with no lag problem to load these new maps? Basically are the new maps going to have new features besides lagfix? If so can you briefly explain what some of the new features do?

Thanks for the reply. Definitely feel the difference although the induction noise is very pronounced now. Sounds kinda cool. When do yo expect the rattle fix version to be available?

Those will no lag issue should be able to activate the lagfix feature as well with no downsides. In fact, it should improve boost response even more. More info posted tonight.
