Officially a member of the fuel pump problem.lol

My cars fuel pump finally went out. Its at the dealer. Are they going to be replacing it with the high pressure fuel pump?

07 late production vehicle....

Now my question, how many people have actually only gotten it replaced once and never had the problem again.

I ask because my friend has already gotten it changed twice and hes having the crank issues again.

I knew this day would come i was waiting for it.

mine failed after only 2300 miles (about 2.5 months) but it turns out it was actually the in-tank pump and not the HFPF ... only problem now is, will I still need an HFPF on down the road

I hate HPFP's! So far mine is good, but like you op, I am waiting for it to fail and hopefully when it gets changed with the latest 3rd generation, it will last.

Today is the first time my car has ever had a long crank. I tried three times and the same thing happened. It would rev around the 2k rpm area and then slowly go down until the car shut off. I also got the check engine light. I'm going to see if the same thing happens tomorrow. Just got off the phone with a SA and he said it only takes 4 hours to replace and get back on the road if it is the fuel pump. Right now, I'm wondering if they'll have any need at all to get inside the ECU compartment for this fix, since I have a tune. Probably should take it out tomorrow...

I think Orb was the one that said he loved the new pump as there were no more blips or anything and the car felt really strong. Guess it's not the worst thing in the world getting it replaced.

Ah man that sucks, Everytime it starts to get into the winter months, for some reason there are more and more OPs dealing with HPFP issues...I think there has to be a correlation between the ethanol mixture in the gas for the winter that is causing all these issues!

Two years of the car starting in a second or two and I was completely shocked. I sat there thanking god that no one else was awake because it would've been embarrassing. Oh well, my chassis number falls the range posted on the SIB, so it was a matter of time I suppose.

For sure - Return your vehicle to stock before you take it in. We have heard enough horror stories about warranty denial!

Yeah my friend has an early 08 production and no mods and his went out at 8000 miles. My 08 is also an October 07 production and I have 22,000 miles and tons of mods and no problems. Knock on wood as well.

My fuel pump failed with 1800 miles on the car!

It was quickly replaced and my SA kept asking me about what future mods I was planning. I played dumb about modding import cars

That's sad. They've replaced so many that they're experts at it now. How pathetic.

All drivetrain mods should come out. No point taking a chance and ending up with a warranty-denied horror story - that's just my paranoid opinion though. Lots of people will tell you to have some balls and roll into the dealer with everything installed...

LOL!!! Yeah as long as you get a good pump. I don't recall seeing any definitive post stating that the 3rd generation pump is a permanent solution. On the other hand, I don't recall seeing anyone with an '09 fail yet either so....

Yeah, I told him that I thought the fuel pump was starting to go and I knew with was a SIB out concerning fuel pumps. He sounded shocked on the phone, as if customers aren't supposed to be aware of things like that. Thank babyjesus for this site.

I'll admit, for a split second I said screw it and was going to leave it in. Then every thread for the past year popped up at once. Now I'm taking V2 out and going to PnP V3.

This post specifically is what gives me hope that they've finally figured the problem out:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=38

The thread's a good read as well. Like Cn555ic said, it's ethanol thats killing the pumps.

July '07 production here: 1st pump failed at 6k miles, 2nd pump failed at 22k miles. I'm told the 3rd pump installed just last week is a "new spec" pump and will not fail. Not holding my breath.

My '08 arrived about a week after yours, & my HPFP failed last month at only 5k miles. Get ready.

When the Service advisor called to tell me the status of my car (which had to be towed in) he said "one thing I must caution you about are your aftermarket diverter valve hoses. They are NOT factory... (long pause for effect), if the techs say they are to blame, this will not be covered under warranty... (another long pause)... so we OPENED UP YOUR DME but did not see any tune.... we tried to read the codes and only got straight zeroes... (another long pause) which usually indicates there was a tune..."

They definitely poked around the DME (which was completely stock btw, and had never been opened, much less rewired) because when I checked I found out the lid had not been fastened down completely. So be aware.
