Factory Cup 2 tire option in the US?

Does anyone know why this option never materialized in the US market? (or NA market?)

If it's anything like the F80, it won't be an option for some time. When the M2 CS released, they introduced a waiver that had to be signed if equipped with Cup 2s.

Towards EOP of the F80, the 763m wheel set became a VIA option that could be spec'd and came with Cup 2s. The F80 didn't need a waiver signed if those were spec'd.

The 963m set was advertised as being available with either Cup 2 or PS4S but when I've looked them up, the description only shows PS4S. Either way, that option isn't available to order with the car. I'm hoping that changes.

Could be any number of reasons that this is the case.

Perhaps you can get an answer from the store where you plan to buy a set of tires. That's what I do whenever I buy things at stores like 4WheelOnline.

I would say they think American drivers are too stupid haha lol. Even if they signed a waiver. I worked for Subaru for a bit and you would not believe the amount of sti and wrx towed-in wrecked in the winter. People thinking their symmetrical awd made them invincible but failed to realize the car comes on summer tires.

I would take ps4s over cup 2 all day. The cup 2 wear so fast on the street and im not good enough to extract a huge performance gain off the cup 2 over ps4s. The ps4s is such a good road tire and has amazing tread life. Also is way better for drag racing than the cup 2 in my previous experiences.

You can get 963m without tires. I got a quote for 4500 with tpms and no tires. I intend to put cup 2s on for dry track and keep my 826 ps4s for wet/dd

I'd imagine if someone is opting for a Cup 2 tire over a PS4, tracking the car frequently is their main objective, not daily driving

I just spoke to my parts dept.

Cup2 are a spec tire for the G82.

I can order 963M with Cup 2 DT Star Spec mounted and balanced, so there is an OE spec for the G82, and the M4 Spec guide lists track tires as option 1U1 which would put either Cup 2, or Pirelli Pzero Corsa on.

Edit: the Star Mark tires are only available on Cup 2 connect in original sizes

Are these star marked cup 2 connects designed specifically for the G8X or is it a generic BMW spec tire that happens to fit these wheels?
