DIY Maintenance

So just dropped Big Mamba off at dealer. My factory maintenance is over and was quoted $555 for oil, cabin, and engine filters along with run of the mill inspection check etc.

Will start doing on own now but was wondering how many of you plan on doing own maintenance or at this price point of a vehicle, will just pay to have services done?

I still have a little under 2 years left on the maintenance warranty and already do some DIY maintenance on my X7 - been doing it since day one. Specifically, I do mid-interval oil changes for now, but will do most of the maintenance once the maintenance warranty runs out (like brake pads, brake fluid and engine coolant to name a few). I do the same on all my cars (new or otherwise).

Inspection... to tell you how much more you can spend. $500 profit. F'that.

FCP euro for all things maintenance...can't beat their lifetime warranty on oil, filters, wipers, etc

It’s good to see that several still do/plan on doing their own maintenance.

Now we just need a subsection for it.

Oil change is like $150, prob worth it. If you buy bmw oil and filter, comes to like 90$ so I usually continue oil changes there. Cabin filer, air filter, brakes etc.. I do on my own after maintenance plan is up.

I will take it to the dealer for a routine oil change if they have a special going on. When I lived in MD, my local dealer would routinely have a $60 oil change special for any 6-cyl BMW, even my M3.
