How do I get Waze maps in my HUD?

Apple Maps works in the HUD for me, but Waze does not.

Waze or Google Maps will not appear on the HUD. Best option is to use CarPlay and have it display on the touchscreen.

I get upcoming turn graphics in my HUD when navigating with Waze in Android Auto. Was surprised to see it as my wife's 2020 Telluride does not have this

You can't get any maps in HUD other than BMW maps. You can only get basic directions in HUD from Google maps and Apple Maps (no pictures or graphics, just "turn right in xx miles"). And obviously only if you have 20-07 update with idrive 7.
