Hey, stop makin' fun of an old man. Yeah, I know it's the MS Word logo, but when someone posts it as a reply, what the hell does it mean? When someone says something to you, do you say "word"? WTF is that supposed to mean?

From one geezer to another : Saying, "Word" is approval of what has just been said (posted, in this case) by someone uttered verbally.
The emoticon in question makes a tongue in cheek use of MS Word logo to convey an approval. More questions? Please sign up for my "Deciphering street lingo for +40 year olds 101" class to be forming soon |

Thank you my fellow old men - let me know where to sign up for your class! Can I still say "wicked cool"? Oh wait, I think the new lingo for wicked cool is "sick" now, right? Or did that just change to "ill"? Or is "ill" the wicked cool way to say "sick" now?

Oh, and I have to tell you, the one word I see way too much lately is "epic". That just irks the hell out of me for some reason, not sure why but I can't stand it. This is probably an epic thread for all I know...

We will cover "Epic" and "Epic Fail" on our first class actually. Their origin may actually fascinate you. In the meantime, see it in action below. I think in this case, it's an extremely appropriate use of it

that thing means Word Word means I agree. Here's how it translates. Microsoft word logo looks like that. A sign with the logo with a W like that, it means "Word." |
