Is my Turbo broken

Hey, so i just got back from driving my car, here are the symptoms, i filled it up with 91 gas yesterday, while i was driving at around 40mph cruising the car felt normal, but when i gave it some gas at around 2500 rpm when the turbo would kick in the cars starts shaking and feels very rough,, the car starts up very fast so i dont think its the fuel pump. while the car is idling it is also very rough. im taking it in tomorrow but im just really anal, could it be that my 1st turbo is acting up? and i hope thats covered under warranty, btw im stock except for some rims lol

the cel and power light is light up, the ones that gives the car half power or something

thanks

EDIT: ITS THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP!!!

Sounds like telltale hpfp failure. Also, turbos should kick in at 1400 rpm. Check the sticky post in the 335 tuning forum for more info. You must have the bad software version... Like me.

My car did something similar a week ago and I took it in thinking it was the fuel pump. It only happened for about 10 miles of driving, then cleared up as I pulled into work. It was long gone by the time I arrived at the dealer for service. The diagnosis was misfire in cylinder 3, and they said there was nothing needed unless it happened again. I'm still running the original fuel pump.

ohh ok, it hopefully will clear up, but when your drove it at lower rpms did it feel like the engine was broken, really rough??

thanks

the only symptom you haven't had is the long cranks upon start up, but i'd place my money on it being a failed fuel pump. i had the exact same issues.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't right and felt really rough with no power. There was no mistaking the fact that something was wrong. It happened once before last winter, but the codes aren't stored for that long and the dealer only saw the recent one. So it hasn't been a persistent problem for me. Hopefully, you'll get it resolved.

A miss fire for 10 miles in a cylinder and nothing is needed?? At the very least I would think they would suggest changing the spark plug. Weird...

Mine has been doing that on and off for a while, months maybe. Then last week I had the long cranks. Now it's not really driveable. Dealer has it. I think for sure it is the HPFP.

Mine behaved exactly the same. No long cranks etc, just limps if I was going 60 and gassed it. Suddenly it died completely. Towed in, passed pressure test but wouldn't even go 1 mile before dying. They replaced it with a 3rd generation pump.

its not your turbo.

if you have blue-ish gray smoke coming out, then you've got a bad turbo.

you most likely have a bad fuel pump..or fouled plugs

How does BMW acts on recalls? do they replace all recalled parts as soon as they have in the shop for like a service or do you actually have to wait till it brakes down?

Sound like a HPFP problem. If you take to BMW they will run a short test and they will know if its a turbo or fuel problem. My guess HPFP!!!!
