What is the consensus on all-season square tire setup for 22 inch wheels?

I am picking up our 2021 X7 next week. We have the stock 22 inch 755M on the car but I'm going to need all-season tires for the winter, etc. here in Wisconsin.

I know some of you have done a square set-up with the tires due to the very few options available in the stock sizes.

What size are you running? I've heard some running 285/45/22 all around....and some 275/45/22 all around......and some 285/40/22.

What will work?

I just mounted Hankook 285/40R22's all round and they look okay. Same diameter/circumference so no speed or compatibility issues. I posted pics last week on this forum.
Went to non runflats and the difference is noticeable but not significant. Noise is about the same and I left the iDrive tire set up as the summer 22's. No issues.
Also got the spare from BimmerZone.

You don't seem thrilled with it? Does it look odd in the rear?

Thrilled? Well, for me, they're just tires.
But I don't have anything negative to say about it. Given the 315's are super wide, no tire that's decent in the snow will be that wide. But you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference looking at them. If you plan to drive in the winter in MI, and don't want a pure winter set up, this is your only choice.

Check the pictures from my previous post.

Also, my summer tires only had 7500 miles so they'll be going back on when I leave MN for a warmer climate in 2 yrs.

Yep, I am in the same boat as you with the weather. I just know some people were worried what 275 or 285 would look like on 10.5 inch wheels and whether the tire would look "stretched".

Looks okay to me. It is certainly not a 315mm tire, so don't be expecting that "look". But I am in no way disappointed in the switch to a 285 square setup.

Just took possession of a 2021 x7 M50i. I see in this thread that some are running 21" during the winter. Would my 612M off my last F85 fit? For some reason I thought I saw somewhere BMW changed the bolt pattern. Just trying to decide what to do with the leftover wheels. Thanks for any info,
