Digital Key without Wireless Charging?

Hi... apologies if this has been answered. I did a search and I couldn't find an answer.

I watched a youtube video on the digital key and it showed the driver putting the phone on a tray (wireless charger?) in order to start the car. Since there is no more wireless charging, is there something else that needs to be done to get the vehicle to start once you are in the vehicle? I ordered a G83, if that makes any difference. Thanks!

You can use the digital key without wireless charging. There is a NFC pad there that communicates with the car.

I showcased this on my channel.

That's a great video. Thank you. One last question... can the phone be removed from the NFC bad once the car is started? Or does it need to remain in there to keep the engine running?

As an example, what if I am in a drive-through and need to access my phone for apple pay? Will I get some type of a warning sign when the phone is removed? Thanks!

Once authentication is done, device or card doesn't have to stay in the tray. Keep the door closed, foot on the brake and it's NBD to stick the nfc device outside the tray.

Out of boredom, I tried every way I could think of to make it stumble, and the only time it did was with auto start stop active, door open, and brake pedal released.
