But I don't want to purchase it until I need an oil change. Does anyone know how long will they have this offer available? One site said it expires in 3 days...

I think we'll see more stuff like this from BMW and not less. As they transition to EVs the big question the dealerships are asking them I'm sure is how they'll be able to handle the transition (as EVs require less service compared to ICE cars). I expect BMW is answering this by experimenting with ways to get existing BMW cars out of the hands of indy shops and back into dealerships via subsidies like this.
For oil changes this is a no brainer plan that is a winner. Even on value service an oil change is $99 at my dealership for a 4-cyl car. This means you're paying for 2 and getting 1 free at that price. Assuming you're changing due to time and not mileage. If you're driving a "standard" number of miles you'll get 4 changes under this plan (15K miles per year). For now, it doesn't impact dealership revenue too much though as it is covering oil and leaving room for them to try and charge for "standard scope" (whatever that is) and other repairs in the meantime... It isn't limited to the next three days though. It launched a month or two back and looks to be around for the foreseeable future... If you look over to their German counterpart Mercedes they've recently shifted their prepaid maintenance plan entirely. It is now a 1, 2, or 3 year plan purchasable into perpetuity by re-buying at expiry (from my limited understanding). I expect this is where BMW will ultimately end up... Long-term owners can stay at the dealership and they can pull the used car buyers back into the dealership as they find a way to give dealerships revenue as I mentioned earlier. |

Thanks!
I received an email today saying the cost will increase to $225 Jan 2023. I have one oil change left (I purchased one two years ago). I wonder how it would work if I buy another plan. I wouldn’t want to change oil again since it was changed last August. |
