Focal vs BAV vs Bimmertech

Given that we can't order HK with the X7 40i nor Bowers and Wilkins, what are your thoughts on the aftermarket upgrades. More specifically, does this invalidate the warranty even if the speakers and amp are plug and play?

Also, Focal seems more expensive than either the BAV or Bimmertech. Worth the extra $1500? Looks like BAV and Bimmertech for about $2100 for two subs, speakers and upgraded amp.

also, are the cars pre-wired for HK eventhough it has the base hifi system?

I would be curious if anyone knows. Just leased a 22 40i and the Hi Fi system it now comes with is terrible compared to the HK system I didn’t even realize I loved until now. I looked at The 3 mentioned above and wasn’t sure which is better. Also if anyone has done this DIY would be interested in how hard that was.

Hi Wav,

I stumbled across your post from 2021 and am wondering what decision you made. I have a 2019 X1 with the hifi system and looking to updgrade. A local dealer is trying to sell me on Focal over the others but it is more expensive (and I already though the other two were a lot). Can you share any details?
