X4M40i build just changed😡
Just checked my build on my week 44 production X4M40i and the tires have now switched from the 19” all season run flats to the 20” performance run flats. Shadow Line trim and HK sound system is also removed! Not a happy camper right now!

Sadly this is exactly what I am doing. I’ll have the dealer install all seasons and store the summer tires in case I see a decent set of rims on FB marketplace, that way I can at least get some mileage split between the tires. If that doesn’t happen then I’ll still be happy for getting a car under MSRP with 99% of what I wanted.

Its nearly impossible to find replacement OE run flats right now. I am trying to find 2 tires and its already been delayed 2 days. The dealer has couple but they want $120 more than the tire shop.

I have a friend that manages a chain tire discount store, and he's telling me that if I need tires, I should jump on it quickly. His pipeline is already drying up. I live in a very snowy winter climate area, and he said winter tires will be hard to find once the weather changes. Shortages seem to be getting worse, not better.

Dealer offered to buy me 20” non run flats to throw on the car at no cost to me. Was more worried about a cracked rim with run flats so this should be an ok work around. Love the black rims and the only reason I hadn’t ordered them was because we get a ton of snow and our roads are shit in Michigan. Really bummed about the shadow line trim as it completely changes the look of the vehicle and the sound system was really important to me. I tend to keep a vehicle for a long time so really wanted it the way I wanted it! Ugh.
And on another note, car went into production already between last night when I saw the changes and today. So normally I’d be ecstatic that it went into production 3 weeks early:/ Last edited by Want the thrill; 10-05-2021 at 07:41 PM.. |

Really sorry - in my post above I only addressed the tires, so was saying "hey just change the rubber". I completely didn't read the last sentence, so NOW I understand why you're pissed. There are many posts on here about "better than HK" sound. I mean it's a PITA to go self-service on it, but I love sounds so I would. The trim howevere :-/ SORRY for your angst. |

I hear ya and under normal circumstances I’d walk away but I don’t see the market changing in the next year or two and right now I don’t have a ride and more and more options will continue to diminish on these vehicles. I sold my X3 private party 4 weeks ago. Just sucks like you said. You pay his much for a vehicle you want it the way your want it. I’d appreciate if they ran the changes past the customer too before just throwing it into production.

Called the dealer this am and he did confirm the deletions were accurate and no longer on my build and that the car was in production with no changes able to be made.

That worries me...it's still showing on my week 43 build, but now I have a feeling they are just keeping me from canceling my order and will delete it right before it goes into production. Sorry for your loss... |

That said, ever since BMW upgraded the base US system to the HiFi, I have not had an issue with the standard system. It's still 10 speakers and 200 watts. But if it isn't what you like, there are aftermarket options. Since you keep your vehicle, it could be worth it. I thank my lucky stars I was able to get into a week 38 build on my X4 - sorry you are going through this. |

I had a Jag build that I had on order. They started dropping things. I felt the same way and backed out of the deal. It is not fun going from a car that you had spent time planning out to something else.
I found an X3 on the lot and purchased it. It had some things removed (no lumbar and something else). Also, it did not have some things that were on my Jag build (auto cruise control). I found it much easier since I was not invested in the build to buy the X3. Unfortunately, in the current market you are not going to be able to build what you want. It is either wait or take what you can get. |

Also, sorry, but I'm not impressed with the HK. Yes, it's sounds better than the stock (which I am listening to this week in my loaner)… but coming from the 900watt Macan Bose, the HK is pretty weak. So weak in fact, that I've pondered several times lately what the cost was again for the B&W option… |

Unfortunately they are deleting items right before it goes into production without any type of notification. I called Genius they acted as if shadowline was never on the build when it was up until monday afternoon. |
