Is there a way to have Waze display in the main navigation screen (1st picture)? If not, is there a way to make SiriusXM display in the bottom right of the CarPlay screen instead of Spotify (2nd picture)? I prefer to use Waze and SiriusXM as a navigation/music combo and would like them to be on the same screen if possible.

Waze is my preferred navi, and I was hoping the new iDrive would have better integration than my X1 with CarPlay.
I am going to be torn, because the new iDrive looks so good with Cockpit Pro - hate not to use it. |

Exactly. The included navigation looks good but it doesn't give me the information I value the most that Waze does (police, wrecks, objects in road, etc). Just having navigation isn't good enough these days.

I use the HUD navigation, then have Waze on my phone that isn't connected via CP, sitting in the center console. Waze talks to me about warnings, and HUD gives me lane indicators for driving. Sirius plays me music (if my wife's phone isn't in the car)

If you start Waze in CarPlay, but do not give it a destination, then switch to the BMW Navigation, Waze will read out police locations, incidents, etc. through the car speakers

And I will die on this hill. I've had it on three cars. It's useless for me. But it might be useful for someone. I just haven't been convinced yet. |

I've never found that true with just the native Waze : If I didn't give it a destination, it wouldn't know what road I was on, despite GPS location. I'll have to try this on next road trip

I've had HUD also only my last 3 cars and at a minimum, it allows me to keep my eyes on the road performing certain things - like changing my media, checking my speed, and using the navigation without having to look down or to my right. But, that's just me - I do like to try to keep my eyes on the road as much as possible. Even if your focus for them moment is on the HUD text/graphics, I find a lot of value to see peripherally and forward along with the data on the HUD. It's not a necessity for sure but I think it's convenient and adds to the safety of the vehicle. |

While the car was totaled, I think damage and injury was less because I had my eyes on the road, using the HUD, rather than (potentially) elsewhere. I've read it's estimated to save as much as .5 second worth of reaction time. I think it's a valuable safety feature. |

As far as HUD goes, I really like it. It lets you check speed, check navi prompts and change songs from a playlist without taking your eye off of the road. I also keep the 'sport' RPM display on. And gesture control got turned off so fast... Last edited by AZM40i; 12-01-2021 at 02:17 PM.. |

As for the HUD, I must admit that I hate the BMW controls/maps, which informs my decision on the value of the HUD. The BMW maps, and especially the input of directions, don't hold a candle against Waze/Google maps/maps. If the HUD doesn't show me the Waze map, no value to me. Because the RPMs, music, etc provide no value at line of sight for me. Now, the few times I've used it with BMW NAV, I liked the graphs and directions. They provided some value. |

See, it's really a personal preference because I'm very OCD with my music and frequently skip songs part way through. It's much easier for me to just quickly jab my thumb sideways than to look down and try to find and click the skip button on the steering wheel. Similarly, I like the HUD because I don't have to look down to see my speed

For me when its there it reduces some of the other functionality like it doesn't show if cruise is on or off and the speed of the cruise so I leave it for when I'm in sport. As for the HUD, had it on the last car and the wife has it on hers and we both love it. In fact we both like it so much we didn't got for the Macan S for me as they don't option it and she didn't got for a Q3 for the same reason. Each to their own I guess. |
