I actually loved how these looked, especially once the LCI came. They had a very low and wide stance, especially in black. Gangster lookin car.
The 7-series models since just look like big bloated generic BMWs to me.

I'm very much in the minority but I actually liked the look of the pre-LCI E65.

I do not mind the rear as much (although still prefer the entirety of the LCI) but to me the headlights always looked awful on pre-LCI. Cars have faces and this one is tired While it has aged better than expected it will never be able to live up to the beauty that is the E38, and neither have many of its successors sadly.

In the Alpina trim after the LCI, these things look good. Very mid-2000s. These just need to be white on big rims, like Rick Ross preached in his song.
