customer support in india
seriously, what has the world come to? so i bought this linksys wireless N pci adapter and it doesn't want to work very well with vista (big surprise there .) so i called the support number listed in the literature and of course i get the mumbai office. the first lady i talked to spoke intelligible* english and was cooperating nicely with me, but of course the good ones get disconnected. call back for round 2, and of course you can't get lucky twice, this lady could barely understand me and i could barely understand her. after much frustration, i just hung up...she was having me do the whole "well a reboot should fix it" thing. it's just so frustrating to spend my money on something that should just work right out of the bag but doesn't then call to fix it and speak with someone that is probably also fielding calls for magazine subscriptions. is it so wrong to want to speak with an american or at least someone that speaks english as their first language? outsourcing sucks and needs to go the way of betamax. /end rant edit: *fixed for the english polizei Last edited by Blake; 11-20-2008 at 06:15 PM.. |

You should watch the movie "Outsourced", Blake.
It may change your take on the subject as it did for the main character who was shipped there from US by his boss ...It's a very touching, funny movie. |

those 'tier 1' people who work in India work with a script. They follow that script to the end, without thinking outside the box. I had a similar issue many years ago and although I had already done all the basic troubleshooting, they still made me go through it. I'd say 'I already did that' and the guy would pause, then continue saying the same thing....I was like WTF???

I always enjoy hearing..."Hello this is, Frank." "Hello this is, Jennifer."

HAHA...how do you speak legible English?? For someone who's complaining about the inability of others mastery of English....
Anyway, man in the future, EVERYTHING that can be outsourced will be outsourced. It's much cheaper for companies and it "helps" 3rd world countries. BUT, from your side, it totally sucks. If it's any consolation my HP's rep was named Prince. I laughed my ass off and was like your name is NOT Prince. He was adamant and my printer wasn't working so I let it slide.

I bought Quicken, and they charged my credit card twice for it.
I called customer support, and the guy on the other end could barely speak engrish. It took me forever to get my point across to him, and at the end I finally got across to him that I needed to be refunded for my purchase because they charged me twice, and he ended up understanding... Enough to refund me twice for it. Free Quicken for me.

Haha, Xbox LIVE service...everytime I call em I can't stand it. No offense, but it's always an Indian guy/girl who CANNOT speak clear english. It drives me insane.
