G87 M2 vs. G82 M4

I have preordered and owned the very first in my state of the last three M3/M4 Coupe generations. '01 E46, '08 E92 and current '15 M4, all manuals. This time, the ever increasing size/weight and that proboscis gave me pause. I would like to replace my current car (still in great shape and only 45k miles), but the added 5" length and 300# weight is not enticing.

The forthcoming G87 M2 seems like it may be a good alternative. Reportedly there will be more in the way of premium options available compared to the current one and on the order of 455 hp, which is certainly adequate. One potential negative is that ours will come from Mexico, not Germany.
