Anyone risking their lives for concert venues?

Not in the Travis Scott kind of risk (sad) - was more thinking on anyone attending these yet, risking mere illness being in a crowd?

They're a little hard to get into...some require full vax records - some will allow you to have a negative test within 24 hours. Just feel it's nice they're picking back up.

Hit 10 years and Theory of a Deadman the day before Thanksgiving. Both were really good. Unfortunately, the singer of 10 years just came down with Covid a couple days ago. Small crowd under 1000 - guessing because it was the day before Thanksgiving.

Since I made my wife go to that one, she took me to see Starset two days ago. Really nice setup they did, put a ton of $$$ into the production. Was overly impressed...

Anybody else hit any venues recently? Pics below of the sets.

Theory of a Deadman has a pretty good video for "Bad Girlfriend"....jus' sayin'

While I haven't gone to a concert in a while, my wife and I have visited DisneyLand, DisneyWorld and Universal Studios (Orlando) all within the last 3 months. No worries or issues and there were decent crowd levels.

Genesis - Last Domino Tour in Charlotte the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Asked that masks be worn, most attendees did.

Concert was good, about 2/3's of the music was the good older songs, 1/3 was the later love songs. Did have an encore, with the concert ending with one of their classics.

Phil Collins could not stand, had to sit and sing for the entire concert, and took at least 1/2 of the concert for his voice to be fully warmed up.

Last concert I went to was the Moody Blues maybe 5 years ago. I wore earplugs. Wifey didn't want to, but was very sorry later that she didn't. It was ridiculously loud, even with earplugs. My hearing is damaged enough, so no more concerts for me unless it's something like an outdoor folk concert where I can get far away from the amps and speakers.

Didn't realize Collins in such ill health. Guy is only 70 too.

I see they're coming here on the 13th...worth going? Was a big fan back in the day - with my Abacab on hi-8 track.

Wife and I always wear them - she even bailed me out on concert by bringing two sets when I forgot mine. Just hate that ringing in the ears in you don't.

Only killer part now, the leads talk a bit between songs to interact...and it's hard to understand them...so I always find myself putting them in and out.

Cannot deny this.

They went more from a nickelback pop sound (actually think Kroeger used to produce their albums and got them their start) - to more serious song topics like the opioid crisis and spouse abuse.

Going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra tomorrow at whatever the NBA arena in Phoenix is called now. Can't let fear wreck a good show. Or a meal out. Or a flight. Or....

I was in Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta in September and got stuck in a crowd in pouring rain with no umbrella after the event (soccer game). Didn’t get sick with COVID, cold or anything else.

Have tickets to see Bill Burr in May and intend to go. If Miami hires Cristobal, I’ll be getting season tickets for next season.

recently went to EDC in vegas where there were hundreds of thousands of people on top of each other for 3-4 nights straight. Went off the newport beach for the weekend where people at bars were also on top of each other.

Not sick at all and have not contracted covid. I know this because my work requires me to test every week.

I have taken 2 vaccine shots and zero boosters. My last vaccine shot was taken May.

Saw the Dropkick Murphys and Rancid about 2 months ago. it's great to see live music coming back finally. I honestly missed that more than I missed going out to restaurants.

I saw Eddie Izzard at the first of November '21 and everyone had to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask throughout the entire show. A small price to pay to get out to a live show again IMO. It's just a little bit ironic that Eddie Izzard was the last live show I saw before the Covid lockdowns started. That was back in November '19 in Dublin.
I also had tickets to Judas Priest in Halifax on November 4 '21. JP was rescheduled to April because their guitar player had an aortic aneurysm in late September while on stage. Luckily one of the stage hands recognized what was going on and got EMTs on the way immediately. He probably saved Richie's life. You can bet I won't miss that show if it actually goes ahead.
I have also been sitting on tickets to Wacken Open Air in Germany since August of '19. The festival was supposed to be the first weekend of August '20, then '21 and now, hopefully, August '22... fingers crossed. I can't wait to get back in to the mosh pit I just hope it's a little drier than in '17. What a mudfest that was!

Went and saw Big Head Todd and the Monsters last month in a tightly packed 2000 person indoor venue. Masks were required but not a soul wore them, not even the Kansas City police providing security.

I've been playing indoor volleyball, maskless, 3 days a week since October 2020. I did have COVID back in February (3 days felt tired, loss of smell for 9 days). I've played a ton of indoor volleyball since then, lots of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. maskless. Still alive. Vaccinated back in September (company required in order to work in the office).

I'm seeing Tool on March. Can't wait.

Went to a super-spreader event at the local kids school concert. Good thing I've had Covid 2 times.

Trans Siberian Orchestra this afternoon. Excellent show and highly recommend if you have not seen them. Light show was unreal. Looked to be almost sold out. Guy at the door had us put on masks to get thru security, then said we could take them off. No proof of vaccination required.

Ear protection is a very wise move. I have permanent tinnitus as well as some high-frequency loss from my years of being a roadie, doing live sound, loud cars & bikes....
I'd highly recommend some earplugs from Etymotic. They provide equal attenuation of -20db up to 4kHz. So you can hear everything it's just quieter. I've only used the passive stuff so can't comment on the electronic active products.

Sister Sweetly is an awesome album...had no idea these guys are around.

Tried to get to Tool twice now...first time, they sold out here in a few minutes, assuming robot buy and resell - which then the cost is not worth it. Still debating on if we're going when they're here in March. I've never seen them, but my wife and daughter have been to A Perfect Circle.
