Thumbs up How to Ensure your Fire TV or Firestick is ACTUALLY displaying HDR or Dolby Vision

This is a fantastic article and it includes a link to an app that you MUST download and install on your Firestick to unlock the real magic! I have been wondering about this very thing ever since I got my six 4K Firesticks a while back.
This will allow you to actually verify you are seeing HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. Afterall that's why we invest in our high dollar TVs and Home Theaters.

But will I be able to reach a reasonable volume output at something less than 98 on my external speaker?? My cable box hovers around 70

Yes, I am partially deef, but even with a hearing aid, I simply can't

Some ROKUs have an input on the remote for headphones.
Some hearing aids can connect via Bluetooth if your tv/streaming device/sound system supports that.
These are only useful if you are watching alone.

I am actually struggling with this issue now. One TV with Sonos Soundbar and Sub (Gen1) sounds great. But it is not the setup in the main tv room. That one with more limited space (the Soundbar doesn’t fit between the TV legs) has a decent sound bar but it has to be cranked for me to hear it, even with hearing aids and the hearing aid app set to directional. So I’m looking at different sound bars (not excited about Sonos prices or having a Gen2 and Gen1 system) or other sound setups, with the constraint that my wife doesn’t want visible speakers and components other than the Soundbar.

Absolutely! Currently the Firestick is the most popular and sold option for external streaming devices. With a little finesse (sideloading apps) it is a all in one global media device. I already have six 4Ks and I just received two 4K Max's. One for our 85in in the Family room and the other for my Home Theater.
Also... Another very helpful tip: get a USB adapter to add a flash drive to I crease your Firestick storage capacity. It fills up rather quickly.
