Thanks for posting these pictures! For those of you that posted, how do the standard, stock, Bridgestone Allenza Sport All Season Tires do in the snow?

For those of you familiar with the SF Bay Area, I usually go to North Tahoe, so not blizzard conditions, but there is chain control for non-AWD/4WD.

We live in San Jose, and have a house in Truckee and by far the best all around tire for us has been the DWS06. I see people put full winter tires on their car and drive up, which is a huge waste of wear and tear on the pure snow tire since 99% of your driving will be on the highway and you won't see snow until the very last part of the leg.

The DWS06 has by far exceeded our expectations. We live on a steepish driveway and we plow up with a foot of snow no problem.

Thanks for the tip on the Continental Extreme Contacts. I'll consider those after this set of Bridgestones is kaput.

I'll post some this weekend!
And, I'll be most curious how the OEM scorpion-zero-all-season M+S RF tire perform. New 45e, new tires, heading skiing soon and planning to test them . . .

I KNOW these are not dedicated top tier winter tires like a Blizzak. But for someone who lives in the wet or dry valley and does trips up to the mountains, they might be a good middle ground. . . I'll find out..haha.

Last year, I put on the Scorpion "Winter" RF tires for the winter on my old X5, and they did well. The previous year, I used DWS 06 M+S ALL Year (like you skyline408 ), and they were sufficient for the mountain/snow driving. It's a balance of either chewing through winter tires when NOT in the snow/ice, vs using very average tires whist in the snow/ice and being aware of taking it very easy....

More pics soon

It looks like this is not an option for those of us with 22 in wheels

Yeah, I have the same issue. The 22 is not a size in which All season tires are readily available.

Our previous SUV for the snow was an 2017 XC90 with 21s and it was no problem getting any kind of all-season tire.

Now my wife is annoyed that my new car has summer tires only and i'll need to get a new set of wheels just to put some all-seasons on.

If you're gonna get a dedicated set of wheels/tires, you might as well get snow tires, not A/S.

kind of agree. We'll keep beating up our 2009 RAV4 for the Tahoe trips for a few more seasons and then I'll get a dedicated winter set for the M50i

Not for my use case. Snow tires would be overkill. As mentioned we have a house in Tahoe. Typical snow season, we're up maybe 5 snowy trips. The drive from the south bay to truckee we maybe see snow the last 10-miles of the trip. The rest of the 200+ mile drive is all smooth dry highway--which will eat up the soft winter tire treads. Also Tahoe in itself and its main roads are all very well plowed when there is active snow.

For folks that actually live Tahoe and have to DD in the snow 2-3 months out of the year, yes - dedicated snow tires are optimal. For most of us that drive up on weekends--it is completely utterly 100% overkill.

My original plan was just to replace my summer tires with all-seasons (as i've had in previous cars) but didn't realize 22" all-seasons were not readily available. (my fault)

My car comes with 809M 21" front (295/35/21) and 22" rear (315/30/22) wheels and tires.

My plan is to buy 2 809M 21" front wheels and do a square 295/35/21 square setup.

However, the 809M 21" front wheels have a different offset than the rear, so I will need to get some 10mm spacers to offset the difference.

Flagstaff Arizona... this is 20 mins before a crazy snow storm that would of kept us from heading back down to Phoenix AZ for the day.
Lucky we just installed a set of Nokian WR G4 All Weather!! Definitely put them to a extreme test and they preformed great!

Similar to your situation, we live in Phoenix where it gets 110+ during the summer, but during the winter we travel 2hrs north to Flagstaff with temps under 40 degrees and snow(once or twice a month).

Ended up keeping the set of oem 21 summers and adding a set of 20s all weather. We were told All season wont cut it in heavy snow. Good thing we chose all weather over all season because we hit a snow storm on one of those weekend.

We opt out of getting winter and AS set because AS dont perform well in snow and a winter set doesnt perform well when we are back in phx. plus if we forget to switch back to summer tires, the all weather are still great for regular phx weather.

By all season, I mean tires that are M+S.

I assume that is what you mean by "all weather" tires?
