Frozen black vs blue

Firstly, how do you even go about getting the frozen black color? I've seen some builds with it, but it's obviously not on the USA configurator. Is it something you just have to ask for?

Secondly, is there any downsides to getting a color not on the configurator (if even possible), with respect to price differences / build time / etc ?

Finally, any opinions on which one you like better? I've always wanted an all black car but currently my order is in with the frozen portimao blue as I did not know of the colors not available on the configurator. The frozen blue looks really good to me as well.

Not on the configurator means you will request an individual color. The price for most of them will be $4500. It will also delay your build by at least 6 weeks from the original build date.

You can check out available individual colors (still need to ask if they are available on your model and then get approved) https://visualizer.bmw-individual.co...=en&dc=1-1#top

Thanks for the link, dang that build time difference sucks. Is it the same type of ordeal for the other parts I see on that site? I see the 20' 1000M wheels that look nice and there seem to be other 'm performance' parts as well.

The M Performance Parts can be added to your order up until a few days before it arrives at the vehicle processing center. The 963M wheels are available, but I have not seen the 1000M wheels yet.

Have you seen frozen black in person? I saw one at M Track Days and thought it looked like the old school go buy a can of spray paint from Walmart and spray your car jobs.

I didn't feel like my individual color added 6 weeks to my order

If you've always wanted an all black car then go with it. I was the same with my F82 so I ordered mine blacked out across the board and was very happy I did so.

Matte finishes are unique in that they only come in high end cars so if it's something you want then it's a good opportunity to go for it.

I got Frozen Blue. I placed an order in mid July, got Build week around the last week of July, the build was done in the first week of September and I picked it up in LA on Nov 6 (about a month on the Ship + 2 weeks delay because of RAM issue).

As of color by itself - it's awesome! I would recommend not driving until you get PPF at least of the front of the car with ceramic coating.

I wrapped mine to black, and I don't regret it because I feel like I in a year I'll go back to the alpine white and have a different car..

Why not get the standard black (BSM?) and wrap it in Stealth PPF? To me, this makes sense if it'll be a daily. If not then go with what your gut tells you, you don't want to have any regrets.
